@Southern_Legion la academia de MBU location will be announced soon and operational before the stadium is according to Tim Leiweke— VILLA (@JVL_5) December 18, 2015
I believe we can field one before NYCFC, Idk why people dont see Miami as a soccer city, we have fields everywhere more than any other city i believe. There are little kids everywhere playing soccer,i door, outdoor, even my niece took a soccer course and she is 2 years old!! She lives in Coral Springs. This community (south florida) is loaded with hidden talent i can gaurantee we will produce a few home grown players with the team, easily, especially for the national team.
Doubtful, NYCFC is already trying to claim one: http://www.empireofsoccer.com/homegrown-forest-harrison-43272/
They'll get someone by 2018 no doubt. They already have 8-10 NYC youth academies that are part of their development. I think their biggest worry won't be having players, it will be to keep ManCity's dirty hands off of them.
Idk, im really biased about homegrown players here ever making it to europe directly, i hoenstly believe that Miami has more talent than NYCFC, more diverse players born here but have their own style because of their background.we produce alot of talent in football #1 then the next production og talent is soccer. New york is more known for baseball, just saying the first few years of Miami MLS system we will have players ready, there already is a strong youth soccer culture down here
The first NYCFC academy prospect is from England, so his transition to Europe would be far easier. Anyway, the point is, yes NYC will definitely have a HGP before Miami.
The owners are also close to securing a site for their Development Academy, which is a huge component in their plan. Mas said he expects to have a site in place “in three months.” Ideally, it would have at least 10 fields, requiring a large parcel of land. Beckham said it is critical to have a successful academy, as the most successful teams in the world do. Young players join the academy as teens and are groomed with hopes they will someday play for the professional team. “People talk about what players you want to bring in? What stars you want to bring in? Of course, we want to bring in stars, but more importantly for us is to get the academy up and running as soon as possible because we feel there is a hotbed of talent in young kids throughout the city and that’s what we want to go for,” Beckham said. “We want to create a soccer community, not just an MLS team.” Mas visited the FC Dallas Academy, one of the most successful in MLS, to get ideas. That academy has boys’ teams from U12 to U19 and girls’ teams from U14 to U18. FC Dallas has signed a league-record 18 homegrown players. Twenty-eight players from the FC Dallas academy have played for their youth national teams for the U.S., Mexico and Canada. And more than 40 have received Division I college scholarships. https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mls/article197476834.html
Too bad he didn’t visit a better academy, one that has a minor pro team so the players have some place to go, like NYRB, Philly or RSL. Although Dallas might have something next year, 3 years after the others.
Miami-Dade's Tropical Park is also on the list that the Beckham group is considering for its youth soccer academy, per @MayorGimenez https://www.miamiherald.com/sports/mls/article220073980.html
id rather they make one from scratch. Tropical Park is always busy with people and random events. few minutes from my house though at least
We are proud to announce the signing of the three-time MLS All-Star, Javier Morales @JAVI_MO11 who has joined InterMiami as our Academy Coach! http://ow.ly/u8nL30nNzJY #thisismiami #intermiamicf

“I’ve been taken back by the excitement, the amount of expectation, but more so I think people haven’t seen what we are going to do yet. We are really going to be part of the fabric of this community.” #AcademyTryouts #freedometodream #Intermiamicf pic.twitter.com/eOdilPVw76— Inter Miami CF (@InterMiamiCF) April 16, 2019
You realize that they have to play some where while the real stadium is being built in Miami? When none of the options locally work out, something like Lauderdale is your only option. It’s only temporary.
One thing that would generate some excitement would be a signing during the summer transfer window. Preferably a signing with a loan deal out until January. It would give the team a face. The MLS Miami experience has been all Beckham and stadium conversations. That’s not what sport is about. Let’s get an actual squad player in here this summer and start moving fan attention in that direction
