Thanks to him, and Meram's amazing chip shot, the Crew kept a point on Saturday, despite being outplayed. Warzycha (and the Crew) are 0-3-3 in MLS play against his former boss Schmidt (and the Sounders). Last time they played in Seattle the Crew lost 6-2. That is to say, Sigi seems to have our number. Is there any reason to think this time out at Seattle will be any different?
I accidentally voted for a two-goal win. I'd like the record to reflect that I WANTED and MEANT to pick a two-goal loss. As you were.
Which means all of the votes, at the time I write this, are for "Lose by 2 or more." <sarcasm>The Crew BigSoccer boards: where hope springs eternal!"</sarcasm> On a side note, with the new upgrade, is it still possible to see who voted for what options in a poll?
Well, mid-week match in Seattle. I expect Bobby to play Tchani again so here's my lineup. Andy Miranda - Gehrig - Williams - Vukovic Tchani - Danny - Grossman - Meram Gaven - Vargas What I think he should do: Andy Miranda - Gehrig - Williams - Vukovic Meram - Danny - Gaven - Duka Vargas - Renteria Francis will come in for Vukovic near the end of the match (in Bobby's scenario). I would keep the Vukovic sub in the pocket and maybe bring in Mendes for an attacker to help protect the tie or the lead. My the other two subs would be a middie (Anor) for Duka after 60 and maybe Grossman at 75 for Vargas with Gaven moving up top.
No way. If everyone was totally fit, I'd probably go with this. But Duka and Meram are still BOTH not up to full 90-minute fitness. Combine that with the fact that we're going saturday-wednesday and we'll be playing on turf... If you start both of them, you might be using two substitutions before the match even begins.
I'm counting on 60 minutes from each of them but it really doesn't matter because Tchani is playing 90 on one of the wings.
He looked like crap up top agains SJ, he swapped with Gaven right before he scored and then continued on the wing in the 2nd half and continued to look good there until he came off. Like a lot of young forwards, sometimes a little game experience on the wing can help them with confidence. You have a lot more space and time, Meram utilized that to perfect effect on his goal.

Every team (especially in the MLS) gets one WTF game where they have NO reason to win yet they do. This one is going to be ours this year. I say 2 goal Crew win.
I don't know if you can say he looked like crap up top. We barely had any possession the first half and he saw very little of the ball. What should he do when the other team is basically camped in our final third? Sure, he gets a lot more time and space on the wing, but that plays into one of his weaknesses. He gets caught holding the ball for too long or dribbles himself into trouble. That being said, it seems like he only likes to score from outside the box, so maybe we should keep him farther away from it.
I went to bed after the first half of the game with San Jose so I had no idea that we lost Mirosevic after halftime. So when I saw some of the lineups you guys put out there without Miro, I was like what? It would be great if we could get an exact update to his condition and likelihood as to whether he will play Wednesday night or not. The Crew could get a real victory on Wednesday if they leave the match with no one injured.
Ick. It still makes me nervous. To take a guy coming off a hamstring injury, who only played 30 minutes (give or take) and have him play again, on Wednesday, on field turf -- this is one of those things you need to be damn sure of.
According to Adam Jardy's twitter (@adamjardy) he is out "Just talked to #crew96 HC Robert Warzycha, who said Milovan Mirosevic is out for Wednesday's game at Seattle."
