And what do you figure I discovered from those attendances? The Galaxy can get 10k when they make the game available to season ticket holders. Half of them won't bother showing up. Plus, I feel that the team's core support has actually decreased significantly. Same for Dallas. No advertising = no crowd.
Dallas' core support has decreased significantly since 2007? That's news to, well, anyone who's been paying attention.
! They're not gonna leave it like that, will they? The LSP interior decorator in me will freak, that's way crooked.
EJ... yes. Same with Alonso. Guys have got to keep those down. But I have no problem with Zusi's. Yes, he put it over. But I like the guts. It takes chutzpah to even think about trying that, and that's what I want in my team. So he missed it. I still like the idea. Note that if we would have lost, my feelings may have been entirely different
Why do idiots like this have to waste air? http://espn.go.com/sports/conversat...ng-kansas-city-wins-us-open-cup-penalty-kicks Really!?! What a moron!
[Posting here what I posted in one of the MLSSoccer.com articles] Was able to find a video made in the stands and used that to do the comparison of Nielsen's save of Tiffert and Gspurning's save of Nagamura to answer the "why wasn't Nielsen's save called back?" question: Sure, they're both off their line at the time the ball is hit, but Gspurning starts coming off his line earlier: Frame 140 - Gspurning is starts to move off of line Frame 143 - First foot is off line Frame 150 - Gspurning is completely off of his line (both feet down) Frame 175 - Nielsen starts to move off of line (both feet) Frame 178 - Nielsen starts is off of his line (still in air, though, even) Frame 180 - Nielsen plants right foot off of line Frame 185 - Ball is struck (both videos) At 30 FPS, Gspurning is off his line roughly a second earlier than Nielsen. Furthermore, Nielsen is off his line for about 0.2-0.3 seconds before the ball is struck... so I feel, at least, that expecting the ref to see that is asking a lot.
Yeah I thought on replays that Nielsen was a little more cheeky with his approach of coming off the line compared to Gspurning. Fair enough. The second it went into pks we were done for anyway. I don't want to look up our pk percentage but it's bad. Brad Evans continues to be the only consistent shooter.
That was a hard match to watch as a Sounders fan. I knew from the opening whistle what the end result was going to be and if the Sounders had to lose I'm glad it was to a club like Sporting KC. That looked and felt like what a cup final should be.
Yeesh. OK, be anal about it. Yes, in 2007 Dallas did better than 10k. By 618. And to pick on my LA comment? You'll note that I did say "Galaxy could have a 'middle of the week, school' limitation as an excuse."... which is pretty much exactly what that 2005 number states. I guess I'm not allowed to agree that there are still some weak spots in the league while trying to take crookeddy to task for only looking at the down side of things. Feeling a little like I'm being chastised by Solo.
Completely agree. this is the video proof of Gspurning starting off the line before Nagamura strikes the ball. Nielsen has a technique of dragging his right foot to make it look like he is still on the line. IMO, the hop off the line that most keepers use just as the shooter plants his foot is the movement that is not called. However, starting off the line as the shooter is still approaching the ball is different.
Consider it a gentle reminder that this is the "MLS: News & ANALysis" forum, not the "MLS: News & Handwaving" forum, which goes by the name "MLS: General."
I'm pretty sure the last time SKC (or KC Wizards) participated in a PK shootout was when we lost to the (USL) Sounders in '08.
I miss the days when the Sounders were good at taking PKs.. We have to have the worst success rates in the league at this point.
Because we sabotaged a USOC run. After playing 5 guys nobody had heard of in Carolina and making the mistake of putting Claudio Lopez in trailing 2-0 in the 70th and winning 4-2 a.e.t.. We then sent nobody to Seattle (USL1) the following week, starting 10 guys nobody had heard of with Conrad and Harrington on the bench being the only notable players, then somehow managing to get to 120 minutes 0-0. Not that I'm still bitter or anything.
Ah yes, just took a look at the PK takers and while I recognize almost every one on there, I'm still trying to remember who Ryan McMahen was.
Yeah, I remember that and wasnt happy considering that was about the only thing we could realistically win that season. I dont know what will happen next year being in the CONCACAF Champions League but I hope we continue taking the USOC seriously.
Opening whistle? Didnt the double rainbow appearing over the stadium before the game started tell you anything? We basically won the game at that point, the Seattle fans should have just packed their shit up and left LSP.
