Was it like five years ago when Seattle won the home game because Santos sent the kids and then got 6 dropped on them by the first team in the second leg. I think Cruz Azul did it once as well. This is progress. Over 5 years you can see the difference. That's what impressed me.
Dallas will have to play a near perfect game, but to say they are as good as out is being a bit disrespectful.
Coming into this series, it was no secret that FCD was gonna need some luck and some great play to advance against one of the top teams in Liga MX. That has not changed. Pachuca did themselves a great favor by getting the away goal, but FCD's got a shot in three weeks.
Is that considered the toughest place to play in Mexico outside of Azteca. Personally, I always thought it was Toluca because of altitude.
History says that if you don't have a 3 goal lead, don't bother going to Mexico. A 3 goal lead gives you a 50/50 chance.
The best way to handle altitude is to arrive the day of the game before altitude sickness sets on. As a Colombian, Oscar should know this.
Dallas has the advantage of going in knowing that Pachuca needs a goal. Things will be father in the return match.
Montreal knocked Pachuca out a couple years ago. I think a more talented Dallas team can do the same.
What was the San Jose game a few years ago at altitude (Toluca) where with only 10 men they held on for a 1-1 tie, then lost on PKs?
Slightly different story that Mtl had 2nd leg at Olympic Stadium. home advantage counts a lot. Dallas is going to need to score a goal. I can't see Pachuca not scoring a goal at home. It's going to be a fun game I think.
Agreed, I thought Dallas played pretty well. Definitely would've been helpful if they had gotten a third, but I don't get the fatalism.
Plenty of time for the Dallas players to get sharper and at least put in a good showing in Mexico. They are still the underdogs, but this shouldn't be a cakewalk for Pachuca, by any means.
Nah. Montreal has done it. Houston brought Pachuca to the brink in a great couple of matches a few years ago.
Hey now. Let's not forget the Sounders eliminating Tigres in the quarterfinals in 2012/13. Of course, the second leg was in Seattle and Tigres sent the kids, but it still counts!! FCD's got this!
