Crew (SC) fan coming in peace. Do any of you remember how much the program for MLS Cup cost last year? Also, what other kind of MLS Cup merchandise was sold at the match? I will be attending this year's game and am trying to prepare myself budget-wise.
I don't remember the program. But, there's the typical t-shirt, hat, beanie, scarf for around $30-$40 each. If I were you, I'd save some $ for the Crew championship gear.
They had some of that available last year too. I got an LA Galaxy championship scarf for $30 and a t-shirt with our 5 stars on it for $25 after the game in 2014.
I can't believe all the MLS Cup Champions merch being sold this time. Last time when the Galaxy won there were only four or maybe five items at most (a t-shirt or two, scarf, cap, and beanie). For Portland I counted more than 30 items, including shot glasses, mugs, flags, banners, various shirts, at least three different caps, pins, etc. Is this just because Timbers fans already buy a shitload of merch as it is? It's hard to imagine them making so much merch available if the Crew won.
Given Garner's Animus towards the Crew, it would likely have just been the locker room hat and shirt, a scarf, and another t-shirt to make some money off the big and tall market (it seems like Adidas only makes the locker room shirt in sizes they would need to make for players - tops at 2XL compared to other shirts going to 5XL). Also, the programs were free (special edition of Crew's usual free program). No large program produced by the league.
You can probably get anything you might want now on Overstock.com....... OK, OK, joking aside---tough loss. Wish the officiating have been competent so we'd have seen a better game and truer result.
