Excited to share that we have identified Austin FC's first Sporting Director. Announcement coming soon...#AustinFC— Anthony Precourt (@APrecourt) November 20, 2019
Wow: Sources: Claudio Reyna is leaving his position as NYCFC sporting director to take the same job with 2021 expansion club Austin FC.Reporting with @samstejskal: https://t.co/4mWsERzosk— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) November 20, 2019 What does this mean for his buddy Gio?
Something similar to what caused Torrent to resign presumably. But surely it can't be worse than working for Precourt.
As we see the NBA and NFL embrace more women in coaching/technical roles, I hope what Landon Donovan is doing at his new USL team is only the start. Carrie Taylor will be the only female coach in #USL, and it’s an important hire: https://t.co/hsU88H5jbI #USLChampionship— Caitlin Murray (@caitlinmurr) November 20, 2019
Does anyone think CFG cares enough about NYCFC to internally explore why their manager and sporting director voluntarily left the organization within a month of each other? No? Cool. Cool.— Will Parchman (@WillParchman) November 20, 2019

Luis Robles says his goodbye to the organization. pic.twitter.com/stwRrn6lMU— New York Red Bulls (@NewYorkRedBulls) November 21, 2019 Is Robles retiring or moving to another team? He’s near the top of the list of aging American players that I hope move into coaching or front office roles. Robles, Rimando, McCarty, Parkhurst, Beasley, Marshall, Kljestan, Bradley, Wondo, Beckerman, Nguyen, Feilhaber, Zusi... to name a few.

Relinking an article I deleted earlier due to lack of commentary. Anyways, another pretty good article about why there aren't more black head coaches in American soccer.. I'll also ignore how the opening paragraph specifically mentions African American coaches, then immediately proceeds to talk about Robin Fraser. Or how it bundles all Blacks into "African-American" when it later says there are 65 African-Americans in MLS, despite many of them not actually being American. If we get beyond that bit of lazy journalism/copy-editing this one goes beyond the usual "it's a problem" posts we've seen lately and actually talks to Blacks who are currently coaches (2 of them in the US) and several former players trying to break into the HC ranks. I can also appreciate Tyrone Marshall putting on his Captain Obvious cape and saying “For me, the biggest reason why you don’t see many black head coaches in the league is because we’re few in numbers.” Haha https://www.goal.com/en-us/amp/news...in-american-soccer/1s6u9x6h6wade1pwkhx84r3n6y
Atlanta lost a main part of their front office (Paul McDonaghue) to Inter Miami and their head coach within a couple months of each other and I don't remember people questioning if Atlanta seemed to care. Torrent's departure has been reported to be much more about not liking things within the league (travel and not being able to blow wads of money on whoever he wanted being chief among them) and not anything specific to CFG. And Reyna has been employed by CFG for 6 years (he was hired in 2013). It could just very well be that he wanted a new challenge. In either case it seems like they are pretty far along with a head coach even before Torrent left and they had a replacement already lined up for Reyna. But, yeah, it HAS to be that CFG doesn't give a crap because......well, gee, reasons I guess. I mean, Parchman is supposed to a sports journalist for a publication that wants a subscription fee, right? He could do some journalism instead of posting random speculation like he was on a fan run blog (and I'm not crapping on fan run blogs because there are many that do it right). I know people will think I'm being heavy handed on this but there are far too many "journalists" that do crap like this. If your job is to research and right articles then don't go posting speculative bs without trying to get answers first.
Of course the guy who runs the men's national teams and the first ever USSF Sporting Director is the son of an African-American.
I actually saw quite a few articles from a number of sources, including this one from sbisoccer, which stated that a primary reason for Torrent’s departure was the fact that CFG would not commit greater resources to the first team. Then Reyna leaves quickly thereafter for a lateral move. McDonough left to take a promotion. Martinez left ATL for the Mexican Nat’l team job, while Torrent had no job lined up (at least immediately). I’m not gonna say that CFG don’t give a crap, but I don’t think they can be called a particularly aggressive or ambitious ownership group (at least within MLS) either. Maybe that changes when they get their stadium done. https://sbisoccer.com/2019/11/report-dome-torrent-to-leave-nycfc
