Part of the LAFC ownership team in the news, and not in a good way: https://www.buzzfeednews.com/articl...elp-secrets?bftwnews&utm_term=4ldqpgc#4ldqpgc
Didn't realize that woman hating snake oil salesman was part of their ownership group. Makes them even more unlikable.
Report: FC Cincinnati speak to Dutch executive Gerard Nijkamp for GM role Correction. Berding would only say that Nijkamp is someone they've spoken too as they look to build out the technical side,. My sources tell me that Nikjamp is a candidate however. #FCCincy— Jeff Carlisle (@JeffreyCarlisle) May 17, 2019 Nijkamp is currently technical director at Dutch club PEC Zwolle, traditionally a mid-table Eredivisie club that finished 13th in the season just concluded.
The Athletic: Sources: FC Cincinnati to announce Gerard Nijkamp as new GM Aided by his considerable experience, Nijkamp will play a major part in hiring the team’s next head coach. One of his early moves for the Dutch side was hiring head coach Ron Jans, who promptly helped Zwolle win their first major hardware when they beat Ajax for the 2014 KNVB Cup. The win also granted Zwolle their first berth into the Europa League for the 2014-15 season. Cincinnati will also need to hire a director for their new youth academy. One source indicated that Nijkamp has already helped the team decide on a top candidate, who could be announced as soon as this coming week. It would conclude a search that began a few months ago (and even included listing the position on LinkedIn), looking at both foreign and domestic candidates. It is believed the new hire has considerable experience in MLS setups. Who could have predicted that Cincy would model their team after the Netherlands...
Smart move from Casey parroting Padraig Smith and saying the opposite of what got Anthony Hudson fired... Casey: Rapids "haven't been as bad as our record"
Again, its almost certainly not what got Hudson fired. Unless its just dumb luck that the rumor we heard 4 weeks before his firing was that he had 4 weeks to turn it around, and then he lost every game in that 4 weeks. He said those things because he knew he was going to be bired that week, he wasn't fired because he said those things.
Were the Chicago Fire players trying to get Paunovic fired today or are they just that bad? He needed two to break the all-time scoring record. He's got FOUR today.1️⃣4️⃣5️⃣1️⃣4️⃣6️⃣1️⃣4️⃣7️⃣1️⃣4️⃣8️⃣Unbelievable, @ChrisWondo. pic.twitter.com/SOUKOgO5Xq— Major League Soccer (@MLS) May 18, 2019
If the player had there way he would have been fired a long time ago, it's our dumbass GM (NRod) that resigned him for two years with a club option on the third.
^ Potus? Almeyda: I told Wondo he'd score four vs. Fire "When you knew @ChrisWondo was going to start today, did you a gut feeling he was going to get the record today?"@peladoalmeyda's response!!! 😂😂😂 #WondoWatched pic.twitter.com/RY0zI7dwnl— San Jose Earthquakes (@SJEarthquakes) May 19, 2019
Today was not the worst loss in FC Cincinnati history in terms of the scoreline. On Aug. 12th, 2017, FC Cincinnati lost 5-0 to - you guessed it - James O'Connor and Louisville City FC.— Pat Brennan (@PBrennanENQ) May 19, 2019
This seems like the model the small spenders are going to go after... amazing how the perception of the organization changed after Sakiewicz got fired.
Sources: Rapids interested in hiring Wolff as manager; Wolff unlikely to join https://theathletic.com/988290/2019/05/22/josh-wolff-colorado-rapids-coaching-job-rejection/ The article says that sources have told them that the Rapids are working with a very limited budget for their hire due to the existing contracts for their last two managers (Pablo was under contract through the end of 2019, Hudson through the end of 2020). If accurate, the Rapids should just let Casey have the season as interim and hope to find more budget in the offseason for a permanent hire. Its also really stupid by KSE. This will be the most critical hire the team makes in the last 9 years. A mistake here, with a coach that will have (reportedly) 2/3rds of the cap and at least 2 DP spots to work with this offseason, could put this team into a death spiral they won't recover from for 3-4 years. This team is already the worst in the league since the start of the decade, they can't afford to fall even further behind. KSE needs to own up to its mistakes and let the next coaching hire not be handcuffed by the existing contracts.
From me and @samstejskal: Multiple sources say the #Rapids96 spoke with #USMNT assistant Josh Wolff regarding the coaching job, but Wolff unlikely to take it. Rapids budget for coaching hire is limited, per sources. Could cause issues with the search.https://t.co/zU3fJpw5tx pic.twitter.com/TNG4Qrom2K— Paul Tenorio (@PaulTenorio) May 22, 2019 1131528698312757248 is not a valid tweet id The "paying three coaches" thing might explain the latter, but still, not good....
Look, all I'm saying is statistically, it'd be hard for "select the starting XI with the most tweeted hashtags" to fail to improve upon the last full time manager.
