I dunno...........San Jose, Colorado, Houston, New England, and Philly would give Chicago a pretty good run for their money on this one. Some might even argue that San Jose and Colorado possibly have the Fire beat in this regard.
He appears to be really good at building a team up initially, then maybe gets too loyal and focused on keeping his core. Runs with the same core until the team drives into the ground. He got out of RSL just as what is happening now in Seattle happened in Salt Lake. So overall, he is potentially very good, but he cannot sustain success. *Now that I say all of this Seattle will go on a great run and win the Cup.
You've only been in the league barely two seasons now............the aforementioned teams have been in at least 8 seasons each. The Loons need at least 3 more dumpster fire worthy campaigns to be put into consideration for inclusion in this exclusive club. Orlando is likely close to being mentioned in this group.
You guys are only in your 2nd year, no way are you on this list. I believe if you guys weren't rushed into starting in 2017 and waited to either 2018 or 2019 you'd be on the list with the BEST teams in the league. Now with the opening of the new stadium next season, you'll be working your way up that list. Edit: jaykov3 beat me to it.
48 hours ago, I might of agreed with you. In one move, Manny Lagos has managed to tick off the entire fan base. Not the brightest of moves before the opening of new digs.
Not quite coaching, but Philadelphia Union Name Ernst Tanner as Club’s New Sporting Director Not sure there's any truth to this since it's now the end of the business day "tomorrow"... #MerchBobo is hearing Pauno will be fired tomorrow. #cf97— Sziszek (@TrueMartyParty) August 9, 2018
Q&A with Pedraig Smith “We’ve just reached an agreement with Cole Bassett, a 17 year old from our @RapidsAcademy.”Some fun news coming from Pádraig Smith.https://t.co/y805UCmy8q— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) August 10, 2018
In my (often called overly cynical) view the message from that Q&A was "we're on the right track, it just hasn't all come together yet". Smith said multiple times they believed they had the talent to make the playoffs this season. No, no they didn't.
From reddit: My favorite and possibly most "oh shit" moment: Last season the Rapids sold two of our best defenders to Minnesota in exchange for two players that aren’t even on our roster this season. Two season ago we bought a goalkeeper that costs almost 10 times average keepers in the league, yet our backup appears to be just as good. This year we’ve sold our top goal-scorer and chief hustler, Badji, and replaced him with nothing. This might make sense if we were really shooting to implement some new, attacking-centered “Rapids Way,” but we’ve hired a coach with an all-time losing record that plays, and has always played, deep defending and has no set counter-attacking plays or pre-planned direct movements. Our record this season is par for the course in his career and reflects our negative-playing philosophy. We appear to be moving further away from attacking play, not closer. What is the plan? When will we see “the Rapids Way?” or... If no player is bigger than the club, why is Howard still starting? He had two game breaking errors in three games in July. If accountability and performance really are there no matter who it is, why is he still getting starts automatically?

Caleb Porter, recharging in South Carolina, plots his return to the sideline Peter Vermes deserves chance to be next USMNT coach - Caleb Porter no thanks
At least 150, and potentially as many as 200 current MLS players qualify for & would like to take the B license course right now. Not one of them will be able to do so this year, which will be the 3rd consecutive year no B licenses are earned by 1st division players in the U.S.— MLSPA (@MLSPA) August 17, 2018 This despite the fact that players have the time, access to facilities and access to Academy players to complete all of the required coursework. In the words of the Federation’s head of coaching education, MLS players provide “no value” to their coaching programs.— MLSPA (@MLSPA) August 17, 2018 If the Federation is going to continue to prioritize protecting its own over all else, then it’s time for an alternative coaching education program in this country. @herculezg— MLSPA (@MLSPA) August 17, 2018 Players are not asking for special treatment other than adjusting the travel schedule of courses so they can take them. No lowering of standards, same curriculum, no cost break. The same course, just offered in a way that players can take it & succeed or fail on their own merits.— MLSPA (@MLSPA) August 17, 2018
Jesus the fact that the best USYNT coach we’ve had in years, maybe ever, is practically begging to help on Twitter is the biggest indictment of our system that I’ve ever seen. https://t.co/raeaEateig— Will Parchman (@WillParchman) August 18, 2018
