I think the "World Cup champs" is a legit point ... to an extent, anyway. Being the best women's players in the world is a bit more interesting than being a bunch of 15-year-olds who can beat them.

When people start thinking Hope Solo or Carli Lloyd could play in MLS, that's when we're veering toward an alternate reality.

Did you watch the Crew play in Chicago last week? I think Carli Lloyd's ability to not bore me to tears could be very helpful ;)

Misplayed pass, misplayed pass, SHOT FROM MIDFIELD, misplayed pass, misplayed pass ... yeah, that might help!

When 25 million Americans tune in to watch them, they can have a big fat raise.

The top amateur men's player at Wimbledon could beat the Williams sisters but no-one cares about amateur tennis.

Right, which is saying it's an entertainment/economic issue, not a human rights issue. The USWNT has deliberately confused those things. Whether that's admirable or not is legitimately debatable, it seems. Some people think women pulling every lever available to get real paid represents a step towards general equity. Other people think it smells demogogic in this case.

Won't ever happen. They don't really want "equal" rights. They want equality only when it benefits them but not when it negatively affects them. Like in the example above. Or having to register for the draft.
In other words they want special rights.

This is an honest question. I know they won the cup 2 years ago but how many of the active roster have won a world cup?

So basically what you're saying is if Hope Solo was treated equally for DV then that would mean women and men would be 100% equal?

    1) No. Women absolutely should not be drafted because the majority would be turned away at the physical. That's just a waste of time and resources

    2) So Hope Solo and Selective Services. Otherwise men and women are equal, right?

I was playing devil's advocate. There are so many more things that make women not equal to men. Your statements are implying that if Hope Solo was tried equally and women were drafted that everything would be Even Steven

I don't think he's saying that if women got drafted and Solo got tossed in the cooler that things would be even Steven.

I think he's saying that if things WERE even Steven, women could be drafted and Solo would be in the cooler.

Oh I understand that. But what I was saying is that if things were even then those issues would be a drop in the bucket of issues that would need to be fixed.

I could go all day making a list of "well if everything was equal then we'd have ______". Cherry-picking those two issues only points out what is personally deemed to be unfair.

But I thought Angelina Jolie can kick the sh!t out of a room full of guys? Hollywood wants the equality to be physical and that filters into other parts of our society. It just isn't so.

its not cherry picking when they same people yell "unfair" when the genders are reversed.
