ATL2 1-0 Memphis 901 I know it's not a very big stadium, but it's full. Oh and the grass laid on the infield is fearing much better than it did in NYCFC game.
Good news!! It’s time for your weekly Seawolves update! Last week was a mixed bag as the Seawolves suffered a rare home loss to fifth place San Diego Legion, but also took home a full 5 points in a defense is optional game against the hapless Utah Warriors. This week the Seawolves will be heading to Texas to lay a beat down on the Houston Sabercats. On the playoff news front, NOLA Gold is pulling away from the rest of the pack with a solid 5 point lead over 2nd place Glendale Raptors. With the Raptors, RUNY, Seawolves, and Legion all within 2 points of each other and fighting for the final 3 spots in the playoffs and Toronto 7 points behind San Diego hoping for a break to get into thw playoff hunt. The only games this week that should have a playoff impact are RUNY vs Legion and Toronto vs Austin on Sunday. NOLA and Seawolves should win their games handily and Glendale has the week off.
Here we go... 3 games in March in Chicago followed by a Friday game in Bridgeview. Nice scheduling MLS.
* Conspiracy hat on * (Unless they are sabotaging Birdgeview now to make breaking the lease more palatable.)
All Chicago over the first fifteen minutes. Five shots, 60% possession. That's a hell of a reboot for Vancouver to have started the season this way.
Hey, it is a process and a multi-year one at that! Same answer I give to my wife when she asks for the 50th time about me finishing the basement remodeling.
Every Chicago shot or cross seems to go straight to the keeper. Crepeau barely even has to move to get them.
They are playing 3 CMs who all have no offensive skill. That leaves one, really ineffective looking striker (Montero) and two wingers to do all the offensive work. Every single week it's 2v5 on the opposition half for the Whitecaps. I don't understand what MDS is thinking.
The whole theme of the early 2019 MLS season is: COACHING So many “rebuilds” starting slowly, several begun last year still stuttering, whatever suicidal nonsense Vermes just did in CCL, Olsen with a budget finally under the microscope, and yet Schelotto and Luchi seem to be doing OK so far. And Jim Curtin poised for Coach of the Year. I literally can’t wait for De Boer and Torrent to get canned so that competent coaches can take over those great squads.
The team is also lightweight up top. No ball winners in midfield. Defensively, they recover the ball far deeper in their own end than the opposition does in all of their games to date. Supposedly help is coming on summer.
This game is really, really bad. Most interesting moment was Mo Adams possibly spiking Felipe in the knee.
