All good things must come to an end. We've reached the FINAL week of the 2019 MLS season. With a new playoff format looming, the 7th and final spot in the western conference playoffs is still to be decided. Positioning in each conference is still to be determined as well. All of this week's games kick off at the same time, 4:00 PM eastern (more likely 4:25). The ESPN matchup is noted. All other games can be seen on ESPN+. Keep it neutral in N&A game thread. Watching EPL and Bundesliga games today made me think of a couple of things: First, the EPL race for the top is probably over after Man City's shocking home loss to Wolves...and here it is the first weekend of October! Guess we'll be gripped by the relegation battle from here on out? After this season, I wouldn't be surprised to see the fraternity of "never been relegated from the EPL" teams to dwindle to five. Everton looks particularly shaky this year. Second, are Wolfsburg and Houston by chance, 'sister' cities? I only wonder because the lower tier of seats at Wolfsburg today drew about as many fans as you see for Houston home games. The upper decks and end zones looked OK, but the side the camera showed looked to be about 40-50% full. Not a particularly good look for the team or the league.
I am in Hempstead, NY and am looking forward to watching the cosmos on decision day. Do they still exist?
I expect the San Jose vs Potland game to be a battle royal, no holds barred cage match. Win and make the playoffs, lose and you break out your golf clubs.
ATL vs NER Josef starting for Stripes. Barco in but Pity on the bench. Line up suggests an intent to play a ground oriented speed match vs Revs defense.
Timbers looking to prove that having a long road trip to start the season does not equal a sure spot in the playoffs.
They are pretty poor at showing goals from the other games in the featured match on ESPN. Just one so far I think?
Goals for Seattle and Salt Lake in quick succession pushes Minnesota into fifth (for now), meaning no home game.
