Uh, huh ... Well, I checked, and I think neither SJE nor VAN are toast. But I can't be sure. You see, there's clearly something terribly wrong with my spreadsheet because it shows SEA atop the table. Of course, that can't be right.
Exactly! I’m assuming this season will be one where we start out strong and then fade at the end of the season.
Looking at the stats from the Philly game makes me wonder if this is Philly's new tactics or Atlanta being incompetent under FDB. They were out possessed 71.4 to 28.6, out-passed 669 to 267, and had a 66% pass completion percentage. Yet Philly was fairly even in shots (11 to 12) and had more shots on goal (3 to 2). And this wasn't done by fouling the crap out of Atlanta as both teams finished with 9 fouls (combined they finished with 1 fewer than NYCFC did against LAFC).
Lawrence hasn't played an MLS game yet this season... but point taken. It'd be interesting to see if Lawrence has a drop off in quality after the injury
Not even a record for the week - Marcelo Silva was at a magnificent -1094 from Saturday's DC/RSL game. RSL as a team was -659. I'm sure @Ismitje appreciates the reminder.
It reminds me of an old Eddie Izzard routine: (2:30 through 3:00 or so) There's bad, and then there's Silva's score. Well done indeed!
Naw. Just returning to the form we had when Sigi was here.. Instead of starting off cold, then getting hot, they start off hot, then somewhere around August there would be a swoon and they’d get bounced in the first round of the playoffs after getting absolutely destroyed in the away leg.
I was out of town for the Atlanta home opener their first game, and we had prior obligations for last weekend's match but I plan on going to the next one yeah. I've caught both games on TV though, they at least have a good local broadcasting deal (on an over the air channel that I get with DirecTV).
