Wow! I am indeed, impressed and a tad jealous too. I happened to be wearing a Portugal jersey when I met someone from Ponta Delgada on Monday (she is a tennis player here at UIdaho).
Yes, though I thought it was an a with a circumflex on top instead of an e with an accent - still "cray"
I had appendicitis 5 years ago. What an awful experience - happened two days before I was to leave for New Zealand with students. Instead, I spent a total of 8 nights in hospital while my students enjoyed New Zealand without me.
They may have been correct there. I don't mind announcers being for a home team, but surprised at some of the snark. Well, at least they will agree if fouls are deserved for the home team.
Yeah, really great trip. Wish I could have spent more time in both places. My wife was patient and let me take detours to find both shirts. I had to go go the Maritimo stadium store after their one in Almirante Reis near our apartment didn't have my size. The Santa Clara team store was literally a couple racks of jerseys and a shelf with some scarves in the corner of their ticket sales office. I didn't get a chance to check out Nacional's store, but honestly their kits are kind of ugly this year. Driving on both islands was possibly the most adventurous part of the trip, especially on Madeira. Had a fun experience where the car in front of us stalled out and could only spin its wheels climbing a narrow 32% grade in the town of Arco da Calheta.
I'm watching CPL teams Calvary and Pacific play in a Canadian championship game tonight. Each side has a 17 year old on the field right now. One of them is an absolute baller. This is how we will eventually be a competitive soccer nation.
