Nice job, Gals. Four losses in a row, capped by a home loss to the previously winless Rapids. This loss falls to GBS. His formation was atrocious, and they were lucky to not give up more goals.
I gotta take a look at the Tyler Miller foul. I think I was watching the other game at the time because I totally missed it.
Yeah, I'd prefer red for that. The only questionable criterion for me is whether the opponent would have been able to regain possession, but I'm pretty confident that he would have. Further, the utterly cynical nature of the foul screams red. Clear and obvious error? Maybe. I'm not sure.
In hindsight this also didn't age well. First game in a while I've left before it was over. The ref was terrible and not just on the big plays. For every call he subtracted a 1/2 for LA and added a 1/2 for Dallas. if it's orange then for LA it's yellow and for Dallas it's red. Take out someone and it's Hedges then it's red if it's Miller it's yellow! I also was very pissed about the Cobra sub after Badji came out (again) as there was no speed threat and LA set up way inside the Dallas side. If Twumasi doesn't get the call then why is he on the bench. He'd have kept LA honest.
And the suggestion that it shouldn't be red because Miller had two teammates coming into the play is to me a non-starter because the only reason why those teammates had the opportunity to come into the play was because Miller had wrapped up Ferreira.
Exactly. You have to look at it when the foul actually happens, not the aftermath. It's at a weird angle for a DOGSO play, but without that foul there's an opportunity to shoot at an open net. How could that NOT be an OGSO?
And if I remember correctly, Miller tied up Ferreira outside of the box after Ferreira gained possession and looked like all he needed to do was turn towards an open net. In that location, the GK could only play the ball with his feet
I just got word from an insider that the ESPN broadcast audio was NOT in sync Thursday night. Ball was over the line before the whistle blew. Everyone breathe a sigh of relief. #LAFCvDAL— MLS Referee Stats (@MLSRefStats) May 20, 2019
FWIW, Messrs. Wiebe and Warshaw weigh in on the big calls of the weekend on the Instant Replay segment: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019...nalties-dallas-dogsos-all-over-instant-replay
Has anyone looked at other calls and seen if the whistles seem oddly timed? Because if they aren't and we are supposed to believe it is poorly synced on that one play, well . . .
I can't help but think it would have been obvious. Not just whistles, but crowd reactions. Nothing seemed unusually delayed.
