Well, it was a good season. Thought best case scenario was sneaking into the play-offs. Found a starting LB, a CM (if he stays), and a homegrown a-mid that can be solid starters for the next few years. Bad luck that our breakout forward goes down injured right before the play-offs.
I didn't say TFC was impressive. I just said neither of these two teams are impressive tonight. ATL to me still don't look close to what they were last year and Philly is trying, but seem like they lack a difference maker.
May have been my imagination, but it looked that shortly before his goal and after his header before that, that Josef waved to the sidelines as if to say "don't you dare take me off".
Came into the play-offs with the only striker in double digits injured. Wooten hasn't looked like a guy that scored 17 in the 2.Bundesliga last year, Picault isn't a forward, and Santos has been up and down. But, yeah, we still could use a player that can take control of the game in a big match.
Next up: the game everyone has been waiting for this round. I know Zlaten owned LAFC during the regular season, but LAG looked extremely beatable vs Minny a few games ago.
Atlanta's defense is really good too....might have something to do with it. Philly does need a difference maker. Fabian was supposed to be that player, and he just never got settled or 100% healthy for an extended stretch of games. Atlanta will likely repeat this year. That said, Heck of a goal by Martinez. McKenzie has to make an attempt at a tackle there at the least. Martinez isn';t exactly lighting it up for Venezuela in COMEBOL. For a player that has aspirations to play at a higher level, and for the USMNT........you have to be better there.
I think with Miles Robinson back there, they are rock solid. But with he and Parkhurst both out, not quite as solid. Hard to make up Robinson's pace, which can bail his teammates out.
That's fair. Tonight they got a ton of two-way play from Pity and Barco that helped compensate for the lack of speed in LGP and Larentowicz. If they continue to get this level of play from their midfield, it's going to be tough for anyone to score on them. I don't see them losing to TFC at home. If the game was in Toronto it'd be much tougher to call.
I don’t think there’s ever been a circumstance where I have rooted for the Galaxy. Tonight I want the demi-god to score a hat. Come on Galaxy, you can do this.
I dunno....I really can't stomach Atlanta winning MLS Cup again at home....... If I had to wait 10 f'n seasons for a playoff victory these johnny come lately MLS expansion teams need to have at least SOME suffering!!!
