Well obviously nobody is as popular as the great MLS, but my point is that there are clearly more people at the Charger game than the Galaxy game, but the Galaxy announce far more. It's possible that the configuration is slightly different, but I can't figure out how.
NFL counts butts in the seats, so maybe some of them fans didn't attend the game. Here in Chicago every game has been sold out for the last 20+ years and announced crowd are always different as low as 53k.
Can't find the announced attendance and I if anybody saw the game (or saw highlights). Did they get the football lines and Bears logos off the field from Thursday nights game?
Just saw the highlights on FOXDEP and the Park District didn't make any attempt at removing the football lines & logo's, looks like they just cut the grass. This is the kind of SHIT we are going to have to deal with if we (the FIRE) move back into Soldiers Field.
No, it's not a done deal. We could be playing at Seek Geek Stadium next year. I believe part of the buy out of the lease is that if Soldier Field option falls apart that we can return to Seek Geek Stadium (not only 2020, but 2021 or 2022). So if Soldier Field falls through we will have until the end of the 2022 season to find a place to play (2023 season).
I was just looking at ticketmaster yesterday, checking out the USWNT game next month at Soldier Field, and it looks like they've sold a pretty healthy number of tickets at significant prices.
Interesting politically charged game in Tampa between Colombia and Venezuela the day Venezuela started military exercises on the Colombia border. I wonder if this one outdrew the USA game...
Argentina - Mexico 56,511 at the Alamodome, second largest soccer crowd of the facility's history, behind USA vs Mexico in 2015.
Brazil - Peru in Los Angeles 32,287. Not the most spectacular number either, especially for a Brazil A-team and a rematch of this year's Copa America final. After disastrous attendance for Argentina Chile, and middling attendance for Brazil, is L.A. still a top destination for international soccer?
Wednesday's numbers: 19,267 in New York City 13,566 in Houston 10,945 in Commerce City, CO 17,196 in Sandy, UT A couple thoughts -- who thought it was a good idea to have a game in Houston on a weeknight against a somewhat non-descript opponent? And I guess Zlatan isn't the draw he used to be anymore...
Weather was a factor in Colorado. One of the guys there can validate but the announcers described rain as coming down "by the bucket load."
That's weird because the weather report says there was zero precipitation in Commerce City yesterday. https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/us/co/commerce-city/KDEN/date/2019-9-11
Quarter of an inch in Commerce City according to the Weather Channel. Local amounts will vary with these types of thunderstorms. It looked plenty wet on TV.
It was absolutely raining hard when I was watching the game. So, not sure what to tell you. Unless the local stream was computer animating the rain, the water on the players and fans, and the sound of the rain hitting the field mic (that would be easy to fake I guess).
