Forget the Champions League, it's time for the important stuff - early season MLS played on bad fields in awful weather. Get pumped! All times Central Saturday, March 17 12:30 PM: D.C. United - Houston 1:00 PM: Minnesota - Chicago 1:00 PM: Philadelphia - Columbus 2:00 PM: Montreal - Toronto 2:30 PM: NYC - Orlando, Univision 6:30 PM: Atlanta - Vancouver 7:30 PM: Kansas City - San Jose 8:00 PM: Salt Lake - NYRB Sunday, March 18 4:00 PM: Dallas - Seattle Busy celebrating St. Patrick's Day: Colorado, LA Galaxy, Los Angeles, New England, Portland Enjoy the games. If you're going to be a degenerate on Saturday like I am (33% Irish and I will own that all day in my Aiden McGeady jersey), please be safe, don't drink and drive. Also, don't be an idiot and order Irish Car Bombs or Black-and-Tans.
Will be at TCF Bank for the home opener... 50 degrees and sunny >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 19 degrees and snowing Hopefully a better scoreline on the field than last year as well. Since we no longer have Vadim Demidov, that's a low bar.
1:30 Eastern. Still crap though. Does anyone know why all of these games are so early? Without national TV schedules dictating things, it feels odd.
I am feeling very positive about the Galaxy not giving up any points this weekend. We should have byes more often. Also, if you are not driving and simply must do shots (peer pressure and all), might I recommend a "hot shot." It is Irish Whisky, Irish Cream Liqueur, and Coffee. It warms the cockles quite nicely on a cold day.
I am curious as to how you got to 33%. I know it's possible, but your parents/grandparents have to all be some sort of mixed ancestry? Hopefully because they realized it will be cold and windy. You gotta utilize the sun time. Damn snow threatening to show up again this week. Knowing the Soccerplex, there probably is a youth tournament using the field at 5 that has priority over DCU. 16 goals in 3 games and you are the captain. He is probably the worst foreign MLS player. It's a shame, because he and his wife seemed really nice.
College tourney first weekend focuses 6 of the 8 games into late afternoon through prime time every year. It's a chance to avoid that gigantic ratings monster and let people get sloshed for St. Paddy's Day.
Natural grass fields will be closed due to the recent weather so at least parking will be a little easier. Ticket sales for D.C. United match at Maryland SoccerPlex have inched up to around 4,000, so Chivas USA attendance record will remain intact. Cold and rain will not help walk-up tomorrow afternoon.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) March 16, 2018 That's too bad. I was hoping for a record. Sorry @Knave. Come ON @dcunited. I've defended and supported the club inwaveringly and THIS is the email I get from my STM rep after months of no contact???. Please, please, PLEASE be better. #DCU pic.twitter.com/ZaI0rGHnxt— Roche (@rocheonair) March 16, 2018
So after this week most teams will have played 2 games, some will have played 3, and only the Rapids will have played just a single game.
Feels like it. A game in New England between two bye weeks might as well have been another preseason game in Arizona...
Just arrived in Montreal. I hate seeing the game at the Olympic Stadium but it's going to be 18F game time tmrw so I'll tolerate it. Already gorged on best smoked meat sandwich in the world and it's St paddy's day weekend so I may end up dead.
