All three MLS teams still alive in the CCL played LigaMX teams in the quarterfinal round. In the first leg, shockingly, all three MLS teams won. The biggest to me has to be RBNY going to Tijuana and winning 2-0. Last night TFC beat Tigres 2-1 at home, while Seattle beat Chivas 1-0.

The latter two are still very much in danger going on the road next week, but RBNY has to be feeling good about themselves at this point.

I didn't watch but from the highlights and discussion it sounds like RBNY played the worst of all 3 MLS teams: Robles made multiple great saves and a Tijuana goal called back for a phantom offside.

I wish the Revs had the ambition to compete in the CCL :(

Hard to make the CCL when your simple goal is to make the playoffs.

I'm watching the NYRB game tonight. Man, it's like the Children's Crusade. Half the field players are home-growns, and the average age is about 19. So two things: first, they have an academy that's churning out talent, and second, they have a coach who's not scared about using it. A word to the wise...

With the extremely high diverse ethic population in NY I think about halff the kids in NY grow up in households where the main sports interest is soccer. Sure helps in finding quality youth players.

Wonder if this opens up a new trade partner possibility for the Revs?

Expansion team LAFC already have more road wins than the Revs had all of last year.

Diego Rossi had 2 goals and 3 assists, in ONE GAME.

Yeah, maybe the two GMs that no one wants to work with can broker a deal with one another.

If Toronto can't beat Tigres in the CCL tonight, they might get another chance to beat them in September:

Really going out on a limb there! I'd say 65% of the league will have more points than the Revs.

Seems like a well designed plan. Almost 0% chance the Revs will ever play in the Campeones Cup so 0% it will contribute to the fixture congestion excuse (admittedly that seems to have died down a good bit since SN left).

As RBNY is crushing Tijuana right now ... I'm reminded of a debate that's happened here.

Having your own USL team really doesn't help anyone! Oh ...

RBNY also played a bunch of reserves and Academy developed kids this past weekend and won 4-0.

19 year old Tyler Adams scored for RBNY tonight. 17 year old Ben Mimes scored against Portland.

TFC lost 3-2 at Tigres last night, but the 4-4 aggregate due to the 2 away goals puts TFC into the CCL semifinals.

So RBNY and TFC are in. Seattle plays at Club America tonight (up 1-0) to see if there will be a third MLS team in the semis.
