Shocking (in a good way). It was TransAmerica night at the game and I saw 4-5 buses roll out after the game which I think was the group from TA being bused back to their building downtown, so that probably helped.
Doing the bare minimum, only time he spends any kind of money it's with TAM/GAM and you SUCK allocation. Before anybody chimes in about Bastian, you can thank the league and Adidas for that. To find out what's wrong go to the FIRE page, our owner has a thread dedicated to him "HauptmanOut"
Major League Baseball Sees a Sharp Drop in Attendance League-wide attendance of 27,328 per game is down 6.6% from this time last year By Jared Diamond June 15, 2018 7:47 a.m. ET With the regular season approaching the halfway point, it seems safe to say that this is baseball in 2018: lots of home runs, even more strikeouts—and, relatively speaking, not a lot of people in the stands to see them. League-wide attendance entering Friday of 27,328 per game is down 6.6% from this date last year and 8.6% overall, according to Stats LLC. The sport hasn’t seen an attendance drop of more than 6.7% in a single season since 1995, when the average crowd fell nearly 20% following the player strike that canceled the 1994 World Series. MLB attendance has remained consistent throughout this decade, never changing more than 1.9% in either direction. While unwelcome to MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, small decreases in attendance aren’t unusual or cause for alarm. Crowds sank 0.7% last year and 0.8% the year before that. But this season has been more than a minor dip, raising legitimate questions about what is happening. ........ www.wsj.com/amp/articles/major-league-baseball-sees-a-sharp-drop-in-attendance Sorry the rest is behind a paywall.
Full article here. http://www.cetusnews.com/sports/Maj...es-a-Sharp-Drop-in-Attendance.BkW4G2S--Q.html The writer seems to think it's the lack of competitive teams, with six teams under .400.
A lack of competitive balance in the American league is a problem. We already know the playoff teams in mid-June. They can move around depending on division winners, but the playoff teams will be the Yankees, Red Sox, Indians, Astros, and Mariners. So if you're a fan of another team, what is the point? A nice day out, sure................but you're not going 40 times. Here's a little tidbit we learned yesterday. Just how long FCD's lease is in Frisco.............for those demanding that they move to a snazzier stadium closer to Dallas. Stadium Lease Snapshot with FC Dallas and Frisco: Together Forever https://t.co/Ch1ZLkpp9L some really amazing info in here... including the fact the #FCDallas lease at Toyota Stadium was extended when the Hall of Fame agreement was made and now runs through 2037.— 3rd Degree (@3rdDegreeNet) June 20, 2018
Damn right! We've got 90 games to blow it! We've got a record streak of no playoff games to maintain here!
Numbers from this weekend: 15,250 in Chester, PA 20,827 in Harrison, NJ 23,498 in Orlando, FL 20,081 in Kansas City, KS 13,664 in Commerce City, CO 18,472 in Sandy, UT 39,513 in Seattle, WA 22,000 in Los Angeles, CA 45,116 in Atlanta, GA 23,930 in Bronx, NY AVG: 24,235
Yes. Chicago plays NYCFC I'm sure our FO will announce a crowd close to a sellout. New England plays DC, so I think they'll get 20,000 Atlanta is opening the entire stadium 70,000+ Seattle is playing Portland and opened up another 7 sections 50-55,000 if not more. Atlanta 72,000+ Seattle 55,000+ Toronto 28,000+ Vancouver 22,120 LAFC 22,000 Minnesota 21,000+ New England 20,000+ Chicago 19,000+ Montreal 18,000 San Jose 17,500 Columbus 12,000 That's an average of 27,875 I could see 22,000 in New England, 20,000 in Chicago and 22-23,000 in Minnesota, that would put the average over 28,000.
Given how bad San Jose's season has gone, I wonder how well they'll sell their annual Stanford match vs. the Galaxy. The Gaalxy are bringing 500 away fans so that will be fun.
This is a serious question...what do they do differently for this one game to get 50k+ every year? What do they do differently all the other games to only need an 18k stadium. It just doesn't make since to me.
For years the sold old almost every game, so the 50k was the only game where you didn't have to fight to get tickets. .... Now... not so much...
I understand they have sold out most games but if they had a demand anywhere near 50k they would have built a much larger than 18k stadium. I understand scarcity and all but 18k?
The Stanford game is just a special occasion that gets the casuals out. It's against their biggest rival. It has a history of insane matches. I think its just the game circled on the calendar for a lot of casual fans. I think we're seeing this year that 18k is not too small a stadium at present for the Quakes.
