Half that many about 30 seconds after Zlatan was subbed off. I was at one of the "official" Fire bars, they were playing Tottenham-City on all the TV's with the announcers on, and then when that game concluded late in the Fire first half, they put the Univision broadcast of the game on half the TV's and the NBA playoffs on the others, with music playing for sound. The Chicago market in a nutshell. Will they even bother with ESPN+?
Really bad attendance again this week. The NER crowd looked like a couple thousand on t.v. I know everybody screams at us that point out low attendance and say it happens at the beginning of every season. Seems to have extended longer this year and is affect almost every team.
On TV it looked twice as big as their last home game Friday vs. Montreal, but it was only +600. They need to work on fudging their numbers better.
Helpful that... I believe you were trying to go with "Do you believe there were that many people in the stadium?" but since we specifically don't discussed that in this thread I'm not going to address it.
2nd ever non-sellout in San Jose (first ever on a weekend) with 17822 at Avaya. This is very close to a sellout, but just more bad news from this weak start to the season. Save us Seattle and Atlanta, save us!!
There could have been a lot of people sheltering. A lot of people watch from the concourse at YS. Is there anywhere to shelter at Toyota Park?
Capacity of the stadium is just under 20,000, they installed temp seats (around 750) in the FIRE PIT area (under the scoreboard), that would mean around 1,165 SRO tickets were sold. I saw fans on the concourse and under the upper deck seats, sheltered from rain and snow, but not the cold.
High number of no shows also possible for Fire game due to extremely uncomfortable looking weather... (or was that just Sigi haha)
Chalk this one up to the dome, because it was chilly and rainy tonight and surely some of those folks would've stayed home if the venue was an "au naturale" experience.
