Minnesota says Alvbage only out 1-3 week - nothing broken, just stitches. Shuttleworth, still sporting what looks like an alfalfa haircut, smiling when he went in with his team down. I'm sure it was nothing, but after the schtick Alexis got....Looks like he will get a couple of games, but, as terrible as they will be, still see Shuttleworth as a backup. I still question Heaps ability to spot/grow talent since he was starting to bank on Shuttleworth for the future and gave him a big raise. At least Heaps finally figured this out was then the Revs to be able to at least trade him away... Of course, Jury still out on Cody too....
I dunno, if Shuttleworth went from a starter on a mediocre team to a backup on a bad team, either Heaps is an idiot because he rated him so high, and the mediocre team might have been better if they had a better keeper, or Heath is the idiot, because he's better than the other guy who has a 5.00 GAA. Or somewhere in between. Shuttleworth is basically an average keeper. Not terrible, but not in the top half of keepers in the league. He wasn't good enough to not get pushed aside when a better keeper (Cropper) came in, but that should still make him good enough to start for a terrible expansion team.
Cropper has looked good in the little I've seen him play. He's strong in the air and is a more commanding presence than Shuttleworth. Plus, he's got a little swagger which good keepers need. I like the signing and hope he performs well and sticks around.
I did not really see any preseason that he played, so I am just going by the one game against Colorado. I agree that he seems in that one game to already possess a better commanding presence and swagger - Shuttleworth, for whatever reason, never possessed this. (neither does Knighton really) But, for me, I am still waiting to really see how he does in some more games.
RSL Manager Jeff Cassar fired after 0-2-1 start. Imagine that. A MLS team that made the playoffs but still doesn't settle for mediocrity. This quote from that article stood out to me: Could you ever picture the Revs FO saying that?
Chicago just completed the Schweinsteiger deal with Man U. He could join the team as early as next week depending on the visa stuff. =============== http://www.chicagotribune.com/sport...hweinsteiger-chicago-fire-20170321-story.html
RSL currently has Mike Pete managing their USL side, so he's the most likely candidate. It must be nice operating your own USL team; developing coaching talent is just another benefit. In fact, Heaps probably would have been better off cutting his teeth managing a USL side before being given the keys to the Revs.
This is a link to the Real Monarchs twitter page The description on the left of the page says the following: Real Monarchs @RealMonarchs The official account of the Real Monarchs. Bridging Real Salt Lake & the RSL Academy. #AsOne
At this point knowing what we do about Heaps and seeing what he has accomplished I'd be OK with taking Harkes or Wynalda over him right now.
RSL has called a press conference. The main 2 speakers are the GM and and Beckerman. If memory serves, didn't Kreis retire in season to become head coach of RSL? I wonder if they might do the same with Beckerman?
People on the RSL board are speculating it will be an announcement for a game against Man U. And the team was quoted as saying they have a long list, want to take time to find the next coach - so this would go directly against that.
I'd rather our FO makes no move than makes a move like this. Aging fragile overpriced star at their deepest position forcing a total change in team shape.

Crew and Vancouver make a trade. Columbus acquires #usmnt candidate Kekuta Manneh from Vancouver for Tony Tchani, $225,000 in targeted allocation money, $75K general. #mls— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) March 30, 2017
VAN has scored 2 goals in 3 games, and they trade for a DM? In other news, POR, HOU, DCU and CMB have all allowed 6 goals this season, most in the league (except for MIN at 18).
Good pickup for Vancouver. Tony Tchani is a good player (even if he never heard of Jermaine Jones), and if I'm reading that right, they also got a lot of MLS bux as well.
Another trade in MLS. Per @theothermegryan, Minnesota United trades Mohammed Saeid and Josh Gatt to Colorado for Sam Cronin and Marc Burch.— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) March 31, 2017
