If the chart is just counting one game the same as another and isn't weighting for audience size, then adding up the games on every French or Portuguese or Chinese specialty channel would seem likely to create a substantial fraction.
The graph does say 36 channels, but still hard to imagine Polish, Italian, French, Korean, etc channels making up 20%, also you can get soccer from Central America, Colombia and Ecuador in some Spanish packages, so I do think Spanish is understated.
They don't have a standalone app, but you could theoretically cast it from your PC to the Xbox One; not sure if it works navigating to the website through the Xbox, it's worth a try though.
Is there a good way to cast it from phone to TV? Some have said chrome cast, but the reviews on live casts aren't very good.
Roku stick might be a decent option. Has a whole lot of fine apps, including MLSLive, so you wouldn't have to cast it from your phone.
Sad to see that there's still no streaming package outside North America (by which I mean the USA and Canada; Mexico has been dropped entirely from MLS Live in 2016.) Getting a couple of matches each week on Eurosport is better than nothing, but it's not enough.
More people tend to watch TV in the colder months, compared to when the weather outside is more enjoyable and inviting. Also, what else was on as competition for viewers at that time?
Not sure, I wasn't home. But yes, your explanation makes sense. I'm guessing ESPN could put a blank white wall on and pull around 300k.
That is true about ESPN but the game was on ESPN2 where the ratings are typically much lower. There was no NFL, college Football, national NBA, or national NHL games, nor any Euro soccer on so it was relatively smaller competition the game had to go up against.
These Jan/Feb USMNT friendlies are also carried on UniMas and UDN (I believe). Some (perhaps sizable) audience is probably tuning in on those options as well.
That's all fine and dandy, but we all know it was really the lead in by the Japanese Bowling Championship which propelled the US game over the top.
good news from NY The Red Bulls recently signed a multi-year television deal with MSG Networks to broadcast games. The Red Bulls will receive a revenue stream from this deal and according to Steve Cangialosi, 2015 MSG viewing numbers for games were more than double what they were in 2014.
Does anyone know if the Direct Kick package will be offered again in 2016. I've had for many years; DirecTV automatically loads Direct Kick each year without me having to do anything. But I've heard this may not be available anymore...
last year it was announced at the end of January. I have not seen anything either way yet but with it being so late it would not shock me if they ended it, especially with MLS Live coming back again.
Apparently, yes. The MLS TV schedule from the opening day lists Direct Kick: http://www.mlssoccer.com/tv.
Sports TV Ratings @SportsTVRatings UCL Arsenal-Barcelona at 2:30p averaged 523K. Seattle Sounders-Club America: FS1: 173K UDN: 516K
Strong mid-week #s for soccer. Imagine if that were a Galaxy-America CCL match. Arsenal-Barcelona's Spanish telecast was on ESPN Deportes, so I imagine total viewership must be close to a million.
