I guess this constitutes the "other teams" - looking forward to MLS Cup this weekend. I am divided on allegiance - am ok if Cbus wins it so Parkhurst gets a cup but want Portland to win because I have a friend who is a STH there and in the Timber Army. Plus, they have a good owner, good coach, fantastic atmosphere and are helping to bring the league forward. They deserve to see the dividends of doing things the right way.

    So, go PTFC, this weekend.

It's always fun to see a new team with the Cup. I'd also love to see Portland beat Seattle to the first MLS Cup between the two.

Definitely Portland. I might have been rooting for Parkhurst a couple of years ago, but not now. He's just another opposing player, and the Crew are my least favorite team to the point I would have preferred the stinkin' Red Bulls over them, which says a lot!

Not yet ready to start up the offseason thread since there's one more game this weekend, but some teams have already started working on next year.

Of course, if you know people are making moves already, it definitely belongs in the "Other Teams" thread.

Since people are talking about Parkhurst, I believe he is the most decorated former Rev in terms of trophies. Since leaving he's won two league titles and two domestic cups in Denmark with Nordsjaelland, and also a Gold Cup with the Nats. That's on top of the USOC and other Gold Cup he won while still with the Revs. That's quite an impressive resume for a player largely under the radar from a publicity perspective.

What would really be funny would be if Chicago had "discovered" him and he ended up with one of those other teams... :p

Or the Revs? Maybe we should put in a bid, just to stir them up ...

Hey, $50,000 is nothing to sniff at! It will buy a Pats assistant special teams coach a new car.

Last year, we couldn't start scouting till January because of playing in MLS Cup. This year, we flamed out early ... and still nothing.

    In the meantime...

    choice notes:
Anyone who’s on the ground this week can feel a new vibe around the Crew that exudes professionalism and class.

Precourt wants to continue upgrading the Crew’s business side, and his plans include the potential pursuit of a new stadium in the distant future.

What??? How can they already be starting work on a new SSS when they already have one? I wonder if they are also scouting and prepping their roster for next year too even though they are in the final?

That All-Star thing is insane! I get that the League wants the top players to play in the game and all that, but to suspend them from their next game is ridiculous. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Imagine if Jones was to play in the ASG and he was coming back from injury. If he had played a couple of (not full) game before, and was declared ready to go but the Revs wanted to have him skip the ASG and play in the next Revs game, he couldn't.

Seriously, does anyone care about the ASG other than the suits and sponsors?

Another MLS Cup that wasn't particularly a good advertisement for the league:( More about mistakes than quality play.

I didn't think the game was that bad. I would posit, that to the average potential fan, a wide open game is much more interesting than a bunker and counter game.

Agree on the open game, but two of the goals were just plain sloppy play (the first was a total howler of a mistake).
