Have to have almost 100% rotation. Lallana, Ox, Keita, Brewster, Shaquiri, Hoever, Gomez, larouci, kelleher (gk), van de berg, Milner, It’s a bit unbalanced but whatever. Edit - Lovren and Gomez as the CB pairing. Hoever RB and Larouci LB
Word on Larouci is that he’s a ver good prospect, but very far from the finished product even for the fringes of the first team. You’d have to think Milner’s safe for another season or two unless we sign a bona-fide back up for Robinson.
Hopefully a deep cup run begins with a win over MK Dons. I'd love to see the fringe players and kids playing meaningful matches.
In a league game I would agree that Milner is the backup left back, but Milner probably starts in midfield for this one. I would think that either Larouci or Adam Lewis will be given a go at left back. Hoever-Gomez- Lovren- Larouci could be the back line. Milner, Lallana, and Ox will make up the midfield. Hopefully Keita is fit enough to make an appearance off the bench. If Origi is out, we lack numbers up front. Shaqiri and Brewster should start, and that might leave one more spot for one of the kids. Maybe Curtis Jones or Harvey Elliot.
True; I'm not seriously expecting Milner to start and probably not even play on Wednesday. My point was more that LB back-up is probably one position where we're seriously short.
Happy that Gomez should finally get into the team. Hate keeping him on the bench but Matip has just been amazing.
A first start for Brewster, game time Gomez, Lovren, Ox, Shaq and Lallana and Hooever looks odds on to start at RB. 7 of the first 11 it pretty much set in stone. Personally I'd want to see one or maybe both Herbie Kane and Curtis Jones get game time, they seem the most mature of the youth team right now. I imagine Elliot will be on the bench and brought on should we be winning.

I agree. I think all the sponsorship name changing has weakened the traditional value of the cup. Now teams, like us, are just playing the early rounds as a 'play the bench and the kids' as a filler. If we come though the early stages we may take it more seriously. Although I did like "Carling Cup"
damnit. Shaq can't catch a break .... Xherdan Shaqiri has been ruled out of Liverpool's League Cup tie against MK Dons with a calf problem https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...erpool-suffer-xherdan-shaqiri-injury-16972830
I think that's partly due to the length of time it was called that. Being reminded of beer continuously is quite good. Wasn't it called the MILK cup at one point? Who was sponsoring that?
Personally I've never heard of Herbie Kane!! Mind you - I don't work at Melwood, as some of you folks seem to!!
