Well, Leon was apparently a good enough fall-back for Marquez after he stunk up the joint in New York, at least.
woah Leon is decent he'll playing next to full mexico nationals like Montes for example. Thats a big jump though coming from NASL to Liga MX I hope he can do well there.
Congrats to Miggy. He's been a great player for United, and I look forward to seeing how he does against better competition.
He earned a move to a better league. It'd be nice if a top player in USL could get a transfer to the next level up in the US Soccer pyramid just like you normally see with any other country, but Liga MX is a good option. Now its time to see how good he is. He was too good for USL, but a little out of depth with the USMNT. If he can play well in Liga MX, he's someone to consider for the NT, but he absolutely didn't deserve to be on the GC team or even the provisional squad, and Jurgen did a good job leaving him off both.
Me too. Problem is, MLS don't want to throw down that kind of coin (Hate transfer fees unless its Bradley or Dempsey) for a player they turned down already in the past. Unless he was going to come for cheap, MLS black aballed him. Now--if this was a more open market...things would be different. I am sure a team would b willing to throw cash without having 2 get MLS' OK first... Edit: And at this point, I nor yourself or anyone really has the right to call out Klinsmann's roster picks. If it was up to me, Wood would have been gone months ago. Boy was I wrong. Ibarra I think will prove his value in the GC like Corona did last GC.
imo if his technique isnt up to par then this thread isnt really necessary and we can stick to discussing him on the yanks abroad forum. excited to watch and find out either way.

Oh god I hope not.. Lol hopefully just a few Copa mx games then impressing there to get Liga mx appearances
Turned out that Ibarra made a LigaMX appearance right off the bat, coming on as a sub in Leon's opening win. No guarantee of more minutes ahead, of course, but he has already played more than Michael Farfan and Jose Villarreal did.

Not a big deal, but I definitely disagree. We are fans. As fans we have the right to complain, rejoice, bitch and moan or whatever we want about our team as long as it doesn't go beyond certain civil limits. Part of Klinsmann's job is to put up with those that disagree with him. We don't have the right to make the picks but we can definitely complain about them. Others can talk about what is great about them. Klinsmann is a visionary because he saw talent where others did not.... or Klinsmann is shaking up the status quo. All are valid. (But is is also important to remember that ONLY my opinion is correct! You are free to disagree, but you are wrong!)
I think what you are missing is that the starting players for Leon are very good though he is pushing them for a starting spot. Everytime he has significant minutes (Copa MX) he makes a difference even if he is not scoring goals.
I was kidding, actually. But it's a good start to his time in MX, a league that's better than MLS...he's starting to make waves. Good for him. If he keeps at it, he'll be a serious contender for the LW spot.
