I will bet a million dollars that if Mix “said” this, he was reading it. Speaking about MCFC and Umbro , Mix said:“This is a great opportunity for me. I'm very eager to be a part of people and organizations that constantly strive to bring our sport, values and gear to new levels.” (2/3)— Umbro (@umbro) January 27, 2018 Still, I respect the hustle.
Seems like this is some sort of pseudo-branding-marketing thing... doubt he ever plays meaningful minutes for Man City
Hard to make much sense of this. But a source with knowledge of the situation told ESPN FC that Diskerud's contract with MLS and NYCFC -- which was due to run through the end of 2018 -- has now been terminated, and that he was acquired by Manchester City with an eye towards loaning or selling him to another club. Diskerud will not train with City's first team, nor will he be loaned out to another City Football Group affiliate, the source added. http://www.espn.com/soccer/manchest...-diskerud-signs-contract-with-manchester-city
I wonder if this is just an internal shuffling of the contract for the City Group. They get him to agree to be bought out of his NYCFC contract by offering a new contract with the big club, which should make things easier for NYC given all the salary and player transfer restrictions in MLS. And then they'll have more leeway to loan/sell him elsewhere without having to deal with MLS regulations.
Best read I've seen: They'll loan him to some Scandinavian club, and in the meantime, he can also be a brand ambassador for Umbro. The guy is clearly quite creative and artistic, so it makes sense.— Kris Heneage (@KHeneage) January 27, 2018
Are you serious? The only thing on player's resume that can possibly help them get a move is where they last got PT and how well they did. If he gets PT for Man Shitty, his resume will get a boost out of this. If he doesn't, it won't. Something tells me it won't And we have our winner. It's kind of obvious, and everyone in the game will be aware of that. It's an unequivocal signal that City Football Inc want him off the books and have already posted their losses mentally. That is what's going to get him his next move, most likely back to Scandinavia.
Guess Göteborg can buy him outright for the right price now. So far I know, Mix has always transferred on a free so he's never cost anyone anything beyond his wages.
Not much new here, but this is Goteborg's take on the situation http://www.fotbolltransfers.com/site/news/89168
There's not much positive press on him. He seems to be more or less a flop in Belgium and in NY this article doesnot give one the impression the "signing" making sense from a football pov. https://nypost.com/2018/01/27/nycfc-flop-mix-diskerud-somehow-signs-with-superpower/
