Back in 2011, we lost Ponce to Mexico's squad where he eventually won a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics. I don't begrudge Ponce his choice (and don't believe he would have played much, if at all, for US senior team), but I'm just noting here that Ponce has failed to make Mexico's World Cup team for 2018.
