http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...er-michael-orozco-fiscal-inks-new-puebla-deal After a period of did will he or won't he re-sign with Puebla, Orozoco and the club made it official: he's coming back. Michael signed a fresh deal with the club and already has his heart set on helping Puebla reach the playoffs. With a good, steady Gold Cup Michael is back in the US picture and the pressure to have a big, big year for Puebla will exist. I expect him to rise to the challenge.
Good to see. He had a solid Gold Cup and deserved a stable club situation for this coming year. I think he's a long shot for Brazil but his versatility helps his cause and if there are any injuries he's right in the mix.
Who knows for sure but given he played RB all of last season for Puebla I'm sure that's where he'll start out the new campaign. He is mainly a CB option for the US though because his ball skills and athleticism are an asset at the position that many of our CB's don't possess. While at RB those same skills are merely adequate compared to other top tier fullback options in the pool.
Orozco went distance at right back last night in a 4-2 road loss to Chiapas F.C. He gets beat in midfield on the first sequence in the below highlight package. The play leads to a break on goal that eventually gets cycled around again for the first goal. The second goal came when Orozco cuts across to clear a dangerous cross, but instead pings it off a teammate standing close to him for an own goal. (Play starts at 1:03 below).
The hamstring injury that kept Orozco out of the Bosnia game is not that serious as he went 90 minutes at left back yesterday in a 4-2 road win against Chivas. From MLS Soccer's Liga MX round up: One of his missed headers starts off the below highlight video. At 1:33 he starts the sequence for Puebla's third goal. On Chivas's 2nd goal Orozco and the left center back are both marking space and neither pick up the attacker that heads down the cross for the assist. See here for a good video of the 2nd Chivas goal. Puebla also made a coaching change after last week's 0-0 draw with Veracruz. Manuel Lapuente was replaced with Argentine Rubén Omar Romano.
Just keeps on doing things to make him more valuable....he may not see anytime in Brazil but I would take him in a heartbeat as he frees up multiple back up spots for other players.
Unless Orozco was supposed to play v Chivas on the right but decided to play on the left to demonstrate his versatility.
"Michael Orozco Fiscal put in the kind of performance for Puebla on Saturday that will keep him at the forefront of US coach Jurgen Klinsmann’s mind when it comes to next month’s World Cup qualifiers. Orozco Fiscal and Puebla kept a clean sheet in the 0-0 tie in the Estadio Universitario against Tigres and the American was a key figure in guiding the defense, playing on the right hand side of three center backs. Although his main responsibility was to defend, Orozco Fiscal was also charged with stepping out of the back three as La Franja attempted to nick a goal on the counter-attack, with Tigres dominating possession." http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...o-fiscal-shines-damarcus-beasley-picks-injury-
Tom Marshall included in a report of Mexican based YA news clarification of Orozco Fiscal's status. He is on loan at Puebla from Chiapas FC through June.
Orozco was an unused sub in the season opener but has started the next two games. He went the distance last night in a 0-0 road draw with Santos Laguna. Highlights During the Apertura he made 13 starts, scored a goal, and drew a yellow card.
Orozco started, went 90, and got a yellow card as Puebla lost 2-3 to Chiapas by giving up a 93rd minute winner. Not sure how he played. http://espnfc.com/us/en/gamecast/384090/gamecast.html?soccernet=true&cc=5901

I always though orozco never got the respect he really deserves. I think he could be a dark horse centerback this cycle.
From Testudo's link "(Orozco Fiscal) should’ve been awarded a penalty in the 23rd minute" "Two minutes after halftime ... (Orozco Fiscal) used a lunging tackle to stop a shot from Javier Guemez that looked to be heading into goal, helping to defend the lone goal scored in the 9th minute by Luís Loroña." Highlights He made 13 starts during the 2014 Clausura and picked up 4 yellow cards.
Michael Orozco’s Puebla did pick up a point on Saturday, drawing 0-0 at home to rivals Veracruz, with the American going 90 minutes on the right of La Franja’s three-center back set. Orozco almost snatched a win for Puebla five minutes from time when he turned and hit a snapshot from inside the area, but it went straight at ‘keeper Edgar Hernández. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...nes-despite-tijuanas-last-gasp-loss-club-amer
American Exports: Michael Orozco, Puebla pummeled by Club America 4-0 August 4, 2014 Tom Marshall Photo Credit: MexSport Meanwhile, Michael Orozco (above) completed the game against América on the right of Puebla’s three center backs, although it was an unhappy Saturday afternoon for the former Philadelphia Union man with La Franja falling 4-0. Orozco put a header on target in the 29th minute with the score at 1-0 and wasn’t at direct fault for any of las Aguilas’ four goals. http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...chael-orozco-puebla-pummeled-club-america-4-0
? I wouldn't bet on him, but it's not that far-fetched. He may have gone this time but for injury, Klinsi likes him. If he's still holding down a solid starting spot in MX through qualifying, he'll have his chance. He'll be 32 when Russia rolls around.
