i know that there's already a few stadium threads, but if this miami thing happens, what do you guys think it should be like? imo if they want this to work, it should be an all covered and inclosed stadium, but not too modern. have a bit of south american style. i like stadium mk, the capacity is currently 22,000, but when seats are instaled in the upper deck, capacity could be expanded to about 30,000. a few changes to suit the area, and it would be an excellent stadium, there's also some great ones from scandanavia, ill post them later. so what does everyone else think?

note: sorry if i should have posted in another stadium thread, i guess the mods could always move it.

They ought to try and put a fabric retractable cover on the stadium like the plan for the Rays new baseball stadium. It could be positioned to go over all the lips of the stand roof and work more effectively.

I seriously doubt a retractable roof is financially feasible for a SSS.

That's why I said the roof concept on the Rays Ballpark. Just a retractable fabric sheet, essentially, not a rigid roof.

But how would that hold up to hurricanes and such?

Seriously, do you expect them to play soccer in a hurricane?

You wouldn't deploy it during a hurricane. The stadium would hold up as well as the Orange Bowl would have.

    This one is hurricane proof....:p

You´ll need a nuclear warhead to damage it!

Something about the stadium, its probably gonna be called the Orange Bowl, owned by the city, cost 100 million, and seat 25,000. Hope this helps in the predictions of how the stadium would look like. If the Orange Bowl survived Andrew and Wilma, then any stadium can. And trust me, the Orange Bowl looks bad. When I went I thought it was gonna fall on me

I don't doubt that a stadium would withstand the storms in this area. I was just questioning if a bubble-like retractable roof would survive. I had the same thought when the Miami Dolphins built their practice bubble.

    Just me being weather conscious.

I actually posted the Marlins/MLS stadium design a couple of weeks ago. Anyone know where I put it?

Interesting. I asked several Miami reporters who was going to develop the real estate around the new Orange Bowl, and this is who they told me.

Which makes me wonder if he's the same guy as this:

If so, then we may have a winner.

Well, just because he's apparently selling that one, doesn't mean he won't develop this one. I only scanned that second article, so I didn't really follow what was going on. I'm just madly Googling, and going right past the reading comprehension part of the exercise:)

That's a really old plan for having a full-size football stadium and a baseball park on the same land. The south side of the football stand would have been condensed terribly.

Having an SSS in place of the football stadium will permit the stadium to be full-size.

I think it's safe to say that we shouldn't expect Red Bull Park.

I realize this is a older design, but have you looked at that picture? Do you really think a football stadium would be that much smaller than a smallish MLB stadium?

I think that design is almost nails what it will probably look like. A Massive MLB stadium with a smaller MLS stadium in the back, in the shadow.
