In the states you are looking at bigger stadiums, more sponsors and tv contracts

That's what they want. Let's be real, conmebol does not care for us. We are an extra revenue stream but if mls and us soccer was bigger, they wouldn't give a shit about us

I read that a lot of South American squads were going to play U23 squads for this tournament anyway. What's the point of hosting it if they show up with scrubs?

    This
Toluca has a way better field that Cowboys' stadium. But that doesn't matter. It's all about selling tickets.

With the Olympics right around the corner? I doubt it.

Btw Brazil hosting Centenario would be great.

They would be busy with the Olympics in Rio & Toulon before that no?

Teams like Chile, Uruguay, Peru dont got shit going on that summer so they would bring some type of quality

carlos salcedo is utter trash. waoh he just let an attacker get by with a failed clearing attempt and forced the goalie to foul and get a penalty lol

not really. the country was in ruins, there were protesters everywhere, and I doubt they can afford it. I'm surprised they're hosting the stupid olympics too.

That summer has Olympics, WCQ, and Centenario (if and when it happens). I'm pretty sure a lot of European clubs will look to boycott their players from attending Centenario if it happens because Euros will also be that same summer and a lot of Euro teams will be losing their best players to it since it's increased the field of teams in that competition.

Neymar will be in Rio for Olympics and Barce were/are tentative to even let him go for that, so I doubt he makes another summer tourney appearance in Centenario. Plus players will want their rest, mannn this is pegging to be a train reck for the BIG teams.

Why would it affect the Euro teams though? Most Euro leagues would be on their summer break anyway, right?

The risk of injuries before their season starts. European teams are pretty strict on letting players go to non-FIFA things.

...but it's on the FIFA calendar, so they don't have a choice.

This is a moot point because people in Mexico have respect for CONMEBOL/Copa America. People would go to see Brazil, Argentina and maybe teams like Colombia or Chile besides Mexico. People in Mexico wouldn't go to a game in a gold cup that isn't Mexico. Not even for the big teams like the US and Costa Rica.
