LA Galaxy's Jonathan dos Santos was 'not even close' to joining America Dos Santos also rejected the notion that he was taking a "step down" in leaving Spain, and said he aimed to bring the level of MLS to match leagues in Europe. "In life, you have to make decisions. I know that this league is gaining recognition it is getting more competitive and I have come because they have told me there is an opportunity for me to grow as a player," he said. "We have come to make a name for ourselves, for the club, for MLS and for the national team. This is not a step down [from Europe]. The goal is to play at the same level. People can say what they want but my mind was already made up. Now I just need to show everyone."
Holy F*ck. Mehmedi with a golazo. Bayern still lead Lever 3-1 but what a lovely goal in the 67th minute.
Don Garber getting Mexican players to drink dat MLS Kool-Aid? Some of the other heads on BSMX, please remind me if Jorge Campos and Hugo Sánchez acted the same; I remember that Rafa Márquez never hid his disdain for the league, while Cuauh just shrugged and did his business.
Campos and Sanchez stated explicitly that they were in the league to bring Mexicans fans into the fold...they were considered ambassadors.
Cuauh stated at various times that he was motivated to perform well for the Mexican immigrants that come out to see him. Blanco is the anti-Becks http://www.espnfc.com/story/472282
This old AP article says Campos got two cars, including a Ferrari. It also mentions Lothar Mattheus' apartment in Trump Tower that MLS paid for. I don't think Matador was paid with one though. This old SI article states that, after already signing, he wanted to lease a Ferrari while in LA.

I would never be club over country But if several more players leave for MLS, I swear I mean just stick to club until it changes
