My apologies if there's already a thread regarding the subject matter...

I'm looking at Expedia . com just for a quick idea of pricing.

$207 from LAX to Benito Juarez.

Hell, it says $239 for the trip plus two nights at El Hippodromo.

    The crazy thing is this:

Barack Obama Specl-Small Help for Crisis-European Plan

    I kid you not.

    Check Expedia.

I need information on where to stay (bargain for buck, luxury not important, but something relatively decent) and how to acquire tickets.

    How much are tickets, anyway?

Ideally, I could stay an entire week in El Defectuoso and check out the Museo Nacional de Antropologia among other things.

    Money isn't necessarily an issue.

But, right now, just for quick reference, I punched in Tuesday, August 11, 2009, through Thursday, August 13, 2009.

    Any information is welcome.

It's always been a dream of mine to root on our beloved seleccion in the holiest of the holies.

Figured 2009 is a good year to get busy livin' or get busy dyin'.

I look back and think about the $400+ I spent in February of 2007 for Hugo's first game in charge. And that was from Wednesday morning to Thursday night. A trip to Phoenix? Please.

$240 flight and hotel (plus whatever for the price of admission) for a chance to stand in El Coloso...

    Let's get to it, Chompi.

That's a bulk ticket that Expedia is selling with little to no mark-up so if you're planning to do those dates, I'd do it and get the airfare out of the way. If you happen to have a change of plans, however, you're fucked because the ticket would only be worth about $200 but has a $180 change fee making it nearly worthless.

Mexicana had a similar sale about a month ago, my parents ended up getting a 2 week trip to Guadalajara for $117 round-trip. A day later when I tried to book myself, it was gone.

Travelocity has the same fare, but they've marked it up about $80.00.

Since the airfare's the most volatile, I'd get that out of the way first for sure. Tickets to the game will defintely be the biggest concern.

its a world cup qualifier...all the best players will be there and it will be at the azteca. additionally look at how much we are paying...its a steal.

Fellas book a hotel near Azteca, UNAM or those areas! you guys dont want to get raped with cross city taxi fares, For those that know how to use the Metro and micro systems doesnt really matter where you book your Hotel, that type of transportation is rather cheap.

If I let you, then everyone is going to want to stay at my place and I would be scared that Mosco might burn it down.

About the tickets, they usually start going on sale two weeks prior to the match (at least it have been that way for the games against Honduras and Jamaica last year). They go on sale on Ticketmaster Mexico, which is not the same as Ticketmaster in the US (http://www.ticketmaster.com.mx/). For the Honduras and Jamaica games, you could have gone to the stadium on the day of and found seats available, even good ones. I do recommend that you buy them prior to the game at a ticketmaster location (ticketmaster locations: http://www.ticketmaster.com.mx/h/stateselecttcenters.html?tm_link=tm_homeA_ql_2).

Now, even if you were to arrive at the time the game starts and the game would be completly sold out, you can buy them from resellers outside the stadium. Keep in mind that for the Honduras game, the most expensive tickets were 350 pesos (about 30 USD), so even though the resellers might charge more, it would be comparable to what you might pay in the US at the Mexico game.

Also look out for the Costa Rica game next month and see how the sales go for that match!

For Honduras and Jamaica I got them a day before the match no big deal, but agaisnt the US it might be a lil more tight!
