So the 4 group seeds have been announced, and Mexico as expected is one of them. Mexico will be head of Group C and play group games in Phoenix, Pasadena, and Houston. Other seeds are Brazil, USA, and Argentina. Below is a link showing where the groups will be playing their group stage games. https://ca2016loc.app.box.com/s/2ia2r07k999oos3af8xc75lldgkgai6f
I hope to go to the three game is Houston. Mex-Chi/Col/Uru would be awesome. Semi would have Argentina if they win out. Just hoping to avoid something like Bolivia-TnT from group A.
So yesterday I noticed something, may be good or bad I dunno. Normally when tournaments start I always hope Mexico get a good draw. Yesterday I looked at all the teams in the tourney and thought I don't give a ******** which team we have to face. We can go toe to toe with any of them and beat any of them. I'm not sure if it's a change in mindset from what I have seen from the team but hopefully they feel the same way.
Why isn't Chile seeded? It should have been USA - host Chile - Copa America Champion Mexico - Concacaf Champion Argentina - Best team ranked Then figure out a way to put Brazil in Chile's group. ha!
I think somebody mentioned February. I hope Peru and Chile are in our group. That way Mexico can beat both of @Paul Calixte s teams
MLS season ticket holders will have special access to tickets before the general public. Tickets go on sale in Feb. 2016. Tickets will go on sale for the public in Feb '16. Sorry to burst your bubble...but Mexico's last group stage game will be against the lowest-seeded team in the group. You'll end up with something that wouldn't look out of place in the Gold Cup quarterfinals, like Mexico-Haiti or Mexico-Bolivia. As @Rafael Hernandez said, hosts always get seeded. See: USA '94, South Africa 2010, Qatar 2022... People have been bitching about this since the announcement (which is curious, since this was the second time CONCACAF and CONMEBOL had made this revelation)...but let's not forget that defending champion Uruguay wasn't seeded for Chile 2015 either. Hey, Peru beat Mexico the last time they faced off in the Copa América.
...you know what? Onus is on the venues to prove you wrong on this one. Last few Gold Cups haven't been promising... Hahahahahahahaha you got jokes. Sure, a Panama-Paraguay isn't going to draw that many people, but I'd be willing to bet that this tournament sells out 75% of the games. Between Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia and the US, there are more than enough teams with huge local populations even before considering the "event" crowd that made USA '94 and the Women's WC in '99 the highest-attended events EVER in their respective categories. Wrong again. The tournament's on the FIFA calendar; and with the exceptions of Chile (who will need some rotation with Confederations Cup participation over the horizon) and Brazil (Olympic duties the following month), none of the South American sides have real reason to punt on this tournament. Hell, Messi's all but guaranteed that he'll show up (still needing a trophy with Argentina's senior NT for legacy's sake), and Luis Suárez will be there to make up for lost time with Uruguay.
Mexico games will be sold out. I just care about one team in this tourney. It's time to get our first Copa America title fellas.
