Not sure what happened to the old thread but lets keep the ball rolling.

The previous thread was one of my favorites to read and now I can't find it anywhere. That thread was the reason I created an account in this forum =)

Just don't use insulting language towards other people, don't attack other posters outside of their opinions about soccer and keep the discussion about soccer. There should be no problems if everyone follows that. If people don't, hit the report button and Wiso can hand out infractions. BTW, I like Wiso's show about Mexican soccer. Just started watching it.

It gets derailed by some idiot then the mod decides to delete the entire topic instead of simply banning that person.

No... Just crap about Mexicans or Mexican players being lazy, something like that. Nothing that's worth losing your shit over. The mod made a mountain out of a molehill.

It's disappointing because Giovani is entering his early prime. It's almost unprecedented to see a foreign-based player opt for MLS if said player is young and high-profile like Giovani.

That said, I'm not too disappointed like most people in BSMX. I think he is still in Mexico's radar for future NT call ups if Giovani plays well with LAG.

Also, it would be hilarious to watch MLS fans (a lot of them are USMNT fans) root for Giovani (& Hernandez if he were to move to MLS). Can I say brain overload? lol

It was eventually going to happen, whether it was Chicharito, dos Santos or whoever. The financial opportunity for the player and the club/league was eventually going to win out over playing for a better club in a better league.

I personally have never had a problem with dos Santos or Chicharito. I just don't root for them playing for Mexico and I think its funny to talk trash about their club careers to you guys. I actually seem to rate dos Santos a lot higher than your own fans. Rafa Marquez is another story. We view him the way you guys view Donovan.

Gio playing in mls would dominate but his play would be affected in a negative way long term since he'll be going up against scrub mls players instead of caliber European based players

This (if it happens, which i doubt)
I mean look at Cubo, he ravaged the MLS, and looked pedestrian with Mexico.

If this rumor is true, I would have to think that Giovani felt he was being marginalized at Villarreal. One injury-ridden season and he is now cast away by Marcelino & Villarreal? That's tough luck. Giovani has the talent to play in top-European leagues. The move to MLS is quite...surprising. I surely didn't believe it was "eventually going to happen." I hold high opinion of Giovani. He is a high profile Mexican player -- 86 caps with Mexico @ 26 years old. I don't think Piojo will discard Giovani just because he plays in MLS, imo. If Blanco can find success in MLS at his advanced-age, why can't Giovani? In all honesty, I expect Giovani to be regarded as a top-2 player in the league during his stint in MLS. With his talent, he should be licking his chops against MLS defense.
