hmmm, Messi can play as a playmaker and plays, he can create space and chance, CR can also do it but Messi does it better and more than him. Messi can create something out of nothing on his own, something CR7 does not/can not do. He needs ISco, he needs Ozil, he needs James or somebody who acts as a number10, he needs the position to be prepared, on the other hand Messi can create himself and can create for others.

Majority of driblings of CR7 is meaningless while Messi's are not. CR may be a better scorer or striker but Messi is a good player/footballer.

ROnaldo goes where the ball is going, Messi determines where the ball will go.

@John Baldessari , it is clear to me as well.

Romario is shorter than both and better than both in headers, yes there is skill in positioning for crosses.
I agree here, but I do see Ronaldo as a more influential leader than Messi. But 100% both have winning personalities.
Didn't understand this either, but dribbling wise they have different styles but both are effective
CR7 looks to cross the ball more than Messi because he works a lot on the wings, I guess that's where he's taking this from
That has more to do with balance, and riding tackles, Messi because he's not as strong as a CR7 learned to ride tackles. I don't think strength is a positive point for either one since it can be countered like Messi riding tackles.
To me that's another point of dispute which should kind of be taken into consideration that they fill their assigned roles that best suits them. Messi for as flexible as he is only does good when he plays for Barca. In the Argentine NT they needed to adapt to Messi's play style in order for him to start having success. But same can be said for Ronaldo, Portugal adapted to his style while Real Madrid plays to his strengths.

This is not a shot at both players, any smart manager will play their teams to the style that best suits their best players.

Come on now... all forwards have obsession with scoring or they wouldn't be forwards.
That's what he means about CR7 being more intelligent than Bale when it comes to positioning and showing he's a step above Bale. CR7 plays on the wings and makes himself available on places where he can find the space to score.

That's not a knock on him, that's a good thing.

C Ronaldo has more goals than Messi for his career still, but he is older.

But let's do this, La Liga is kind of know for having a great disparity between top teams and mid table hence the winner usually getting over 90 points every year in recent history. This causes the scoring on La Liga to be incredibly lop sided and having top teams and good strikers look way above avg.

    For example...
C Ronaldo avg 25 goals a season in the EPL and doubles that just by switching leagues.

Ronaldo's avg since joining La Liga 51 goals per season
Messi's avg in La Liga (after he became a consistent starter to be fair) 52

Not that much of a difference in goals is there?

Add Ronaldo to a team and they will play you completely differently than the same team without Ronaldo, without him even touching the ball. There are many ways one can affect the outcome of a match without touching the ball.

Ever think that Ronaldo is the one that makes Isco, Ozil and James have that room to create. Ronaldo is the one that puts himself in a position where the pass to him is an easy pass instead of a very hard pass? This becomes the question that's always asked in American Football... Does the WR makes the QB better or is it the opposite?

Clearly you can see a pattern that whatever #10 that plays with C.Ronaldo has his game elevated, has an increase in assists and looks a whole lot better during that season. This is the case of the WR making the QB look better, if you change the #10 and the result stays the same... that #10 wasn't the catalyst for the success to begin with.

    Let's use my analytic skills.

    C. Ronaldo is better at Messi at striking the ball in closed spaces without needing to create space. He achieves the goal of scoring with less effort. Hence making him more efficient at his position (scoring goals) than Messi, which needs to rely on many other aspects of the goal while C. Ronaldo scores using his superior mental ability to put the ball on the back of the net with less effort.

    C. Ronaldo was able to keep the same goal per game avg as Messi over the past 6 seasons, scoring over 50 goals over the past 5 seasons without suffering from a drop back due to his age. Messi even at a younger age has already seen drop offs in his goal production due to injury years, while being extremely productive on years where health is no issue for Messi.

This shows that the stress Messi puts his body through in order to be able to score has it's drawbacks and might be one of the reasons for his injuries. Top goalscorers of all time, at some point, adapted to a more poacher/clinical striker position in order to remain viable for their teams while losing their physical attributes to age. C. Ronaldo has shown that he has been able to make the transition over his 30s into a clinical finisher and not lose production, while Messi is still relying on his physical abilities in order to score.

Only time will say if Messi can make the transition into a more clinical striker/poacher position and maintain his production of if he will drop off along side his physical abilities.

Was that good use of my skill?

agree with all you say (except the parts about A,erican football because I do not know them.)

yes, Ronaldo has a very good nose for a goal which can smell and find it, Ronaldo makes Ozil/e.t.c who they were, what they were. I agree with all of this. I did not try to diminish ROnaldo by mentioning this, what I wanted to mean is: no matter Ronaldo makes them achieve what that #10s achieved, it does not change the fact that Ronaldo needs them, ROnaldo almost nevewr prepared a goal for himself something Messi does sometimes.

Ronaldo rarele creates for others something Messi does regularly. When Messi dribbles he at least creates a chance or a space for others, something Ronaldo does so rarely. that is why I see Messi superior to ROnaldo.

No player plays on his own. Messi cannot do what he does without the help of his teammates creating space for him. There is a skill to what both of them do. One to carry the ball in the space generated by teammates and the other to create the space his teammates need to be productive.

Nice analysis there... I guess you can't really make a good argument for something, then it's better not to argue at all

I abstain from voting. Talking about 1 and 1A. Both are two of the best players I have ever seen, we ought to enjoy them before they are gone. I wish I would have appreciated Rivaldo more in his prime. They both continue to put up numbers never seen in the game before, as we like to term "video game" numbers. The fact that Ronaldo is already so close to breaking the Real Madrid scoring record is amazing. Both have silverware and numbers to prove it. Enjoy it while it lasts. It will always be fun to see the next wonderkid come up to replace such great talents.

literally yes, every game of Barca/real we will see at least 10 teammates of each.
that is what makes messi ahead of Ronaldo, Messi can do itand does. if no space exists, he creates something ROnaldo does not or can not do. or so rarely succeeds in.
yes, Ronaldo does carry the ball in the space created for him and Messidoes things youwrote and more.

but what seperates them?! Messi does what ROnaldo does + others, can Ronaldo act like Messi?! doubtable, he cant I think.

that is why I see Messi ahead of Ronaldo. ( I am CR7 fan and want ROnaldowin Ballandors or topscorers)
