I wish a major cable sport's network would buy the rights tot he Championship playoffs, as they'd be a fun watch to see who gets promoted, a lot of drama, but I'm sure it's a packaged deal with the arduous regular season so whoever endures that is paid off.

I believe Williams was a late game sub in that game.

Strange...seems he's lost his starting spot in a crucial time of the season. Still playing more minutes this season than ever before. But still...

That blows, hate to see yank on yank violence, especially in a game as high stakes as these, but it is of course unavoidable as only one of the four will be promoted. Agreed that it does at least guarantee one yank in the final, but I was hoping to see both yanks in the final, which on form it would seem likely to happen.

Well, if Wagner gets Huddersfield past Sheffield Wednesday, there will be two Americans in the final (although one is a manager)

As much as I'd like to see Wagner get Huddersfield into the Premier League, I worry about how bad they'd be next season. Has a team with a negative GD ever been promoted out of the Championship? Combine that with Huddersfield's limited financial resources, and it could be a Derby 07-08 campaign all over again.

ETA: As best as I can tell, Huddersfield is the first team to even qualify for the playoffs with a negative GD since 1990-91, when Brighton was a -6.

Williams is playing kind of crazy, for both good and bad. Ranging box-to-box to be part of a lot of challenges, and break up attacks, but he could have gotten yellow carded with a slide through the back there, and his precision has not been there yet. Wants it badly, but has to control that desire a bit.

The TV providers don't care much about the Championship. Not even these playoff matches warrant a spot on a major footballing channel. But I'd imagine they'd have to buy the whole season, of a 2nd division, then.

I don't even know what that's supposed to mean

considering they're fighting to be in the premier league next season it's still a big deal

Reading to go into the driver's seat at 1-0. Williams was sort of involved. He threw himself into the fray for another 50-50, the Fulham players were arguing for a foul, although it looked closer to be a foul of Williams, Williams tried to stop the ball, a Reading teammate picked the ball up and they took advantage of the numbers in scoring.

Williams was also involved in another chance later. He received the ball in the box for a good scoring opportunity, but first touch let him down a bit, it got caught in behind him, which allowed the defender to get a nip in. There was a penalty shout, but it would have been soft, IMO.

Transfermarkt has him at 41 Championship appearances this season. Too lazy to look it up but I'd say that has to be close the most league appearances of any Yank abroad this season.

EDIT: Eric Lichaj would be my guess at someone with more appearances. He's showing 41 as well.

Not league appearances. Bundesliga teams only play 34 games.

Whoops thought that was total appearances. Forgot the Championship has so many league games, seeing the number 41 just automatically looks like a total appearances number
