FOX News Channel 4: Thursday nite Nov 19 between 9:50-10:00 (NOW) will have one player's story about making it the cup and why it is so special to him
DaMN this morning... http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcon...stories/111910dnspometrofcdallas.3d6f8ea.html
The Dunham and Miller show on The Ticket did a segment about soccer, and FCD's run to the cup, and whether or not it would help the fan base (they didn't think so). They had high praise for Hyndman's kung-fu skills, and thought he could still at 60+ year old beat up any Dallas Cowboy. Gordon Keith talked about being on the same flight with FCD to LA for the Western Conference Final, and sitting next to an unnamed player who was afraid of flying, and kept death gripping the arm rests/chair at any sign of turbulence, and constantly giving himself the sign of the cross... any guesses on who it would be? It's nice to have some conversation about the team, even if it isn't super flattering, at least it raises the level of awareness to some degree.
Quote of that segment: "If evil were to find him, evil would lose." Yeah, I was a bit saddened to heat it devolve into an Arsenal conversation, but considering only two of them even had a clue, and only Jerr (?) had ever watched an FC Dallas match (and props to him for pronouncing Dahveed correctly,) it was pretty good stuff. 10 minutes on soccer in prime drive time? More, please.
Actually, it sounded like Fernando (show producer) was the one with the detailed info about the team. I was working through that segment and caught bits and pieces of it.
There's a story on DH along with a big pic of him on the front page of Sports Day in the physical paper today.
Don't you just love how these clowns like to tell us how american's wont watch soccer. I wonder why they don't do it when other teams are hurting at the gate.
These are generally the same clowns that think boxing is still a major sport and that MMA is just a fad.
Check this out: FIFA.com Right now, FC Dallas is involved in 2 of the top stories on FIFA.com, not to mention that their pictures and faces are now all over the world. McCarty, Harris, Shea, and Chavez are the headline pic for the World Leagues Preview and the Western Conference Champions photo headlines a story about MLS. Both are on the front page captions. Way to get FIFA to notice us, FC Dallas!
Fox Channel 33 was at the airport tonight to film the fans greeting the team as they disembarked from their charter flight. Should be on the Monday night's 9:00 evening news.
And today in the DMN, the top of the front page had a blurb about the loss, the front page of Sports Day had a pic and story by a staff writer (under the fold, though) and all of pages 2 and 3 were dedicated to multiple little stories covering the match. I can't really ask for much more than that if I'm being realistic.
Might be a good idea to thank whichever media you saw something on (instead of the usual ranting when they aren't). If they get a lot of responses it might surprise them and make them think more folks were watching then they thought.
