that was Malone's 7th goal of the season, to make him the top scorer of the team. He's also along with Romario Roesch, the players that are likely to make the jump from the U19. Roesch is making the jump to the main team in Summer (although could still end up playing for the reserves), since he's a 99. While Malone who's only 17, could still play in U19 next season or he might end up in the reserve team.

if you take Marco Richter's example, a guy who turned 20 this season and also scored his 1st 1BL in only 2 games. He started to play in the Augsburg reserve team while he was 17 and after 2 years in the reserves, played in the 1BL. That could be Malone's path.

Malone scored his 9th of the season in a 1-1 draw.

it was the 5th consecutive game he scored in.

looks like he was upped to the German NT U18, was called up for a training camp in Malente before it was canceled because of weather. Next game is March 23, between his current form and already getting a call up. Seems likely to make the squad for that International date where Germany plays France.

and now has been upped for real to the U18s as he made the squad for the double friendlies vs France U18.

unused sub as teammate Moravek was sent off at the 54th minute. Got 2 yellows in 2 minutes lol.
well let's hope he makes the bench again. Still has 4 games to make his 1BL/pro debut!

with Augsburg U19 not getting relegated nor are they in contention to winning the U19 Sud/Sudwest. He could be used again.

that website is nothing but marketing/pandering, they always make it sound like all German Americans playing for the US is almost a given.

sure, guys like Malone could end up with the US, but it's not happening anytime soon. It's way to early for it anyway, he's only 17.

We can, it was just a select few of old-guard personal who built future US teams around their family friends kids or their kids or their kids friends. have pity on us!

Malone scored his 10th goal of the season in a 3-0 win vs Bayern in the last game of the season. No idea if he had any assists in the game. Also still Augsburg U19's top scorer this season.

maybe he'll get to make his pro debut in the last 1BL matchday, next weekend.

He finished the U19 Bundesliga south/southwest season with 10 goals, good for 6th place.

On one hand, it's reassuring as a US fan to see that every scorer ahead of him in the division was also a German center-forward. And also that although Malone was called up to the German U18s for four international friendlies, he did not start any of the matches and subbed into just two of them. I don't believe he's ever been a consistent starter for German youth teams. On the other hand, if you look at the German senior team, just one center-forward under age 28, Timo Werner, has been called up within the last calendar year. So there's a path for Malone if he's good enough.

actually Malone played 3 games for the German U18 not 2. He played the 2nd half vs Russia, places like TM aren't updated on that front. Another thing TM has the Austria game, which he was called for only the back up list not the main squad. So all 3 games he was called up for the U18 he played. One reason as to why he was on the back up list was because he had just made the bench for Augsburg's 1st team the weekend before the game.

And another one of those substitutions he came on the 46th minute. Huge chunk of friendlies coaches make players play half a game only, to play as many players as possible, so whether you start or not is irrelevant. So 2/3 of those U18 games he played half a game's worth with only 1 real sub where he only played 13 minutes.

Thing is about a lot of players is that as long as you keep calling them up, that's enough to keep them in the program. Besides how Malone does at the pro level is what will decide his senior NT future. The youth rankings is not an indicator of pro success.

Werner has been a 1BL starter since he was 17. As for the older strikers, most of those guys are done after the WC. And in general we tend to call up older strikers who have years of experience over inexperienced ones. And most strikers usually don't get better until their mid-20s anyways or don't make a real breakthrough until their mid-20s.

he actually came on the field at the 46th minute.

could be wrong but once everyone is back at Augsburg, Malone is likely back in the U19 or in II. There are 7 guys excluding Malone that can play as striker. Some are likely leaving but seems more towards next Summer.

scored a hat trick in a 5-3 win vs FCN U19. Some context, 2/3 goals happened after an FCN U19 player got a straight red card.
