Signs a pro contract: Matteo Ritaccio has signed his first professional contract with the Reds 🙌🔴— Liverpool FC (@LFC) November 12, 2019
Get ready to go out on loans kid. I hate seeing our young prospects signing with giant clubs like Man City, Man U, Liverpool, Chelsea, etc. at 17 or 18 years old. They should sign with smaller clubs with well known academies in the Dutch, Belgium, or German leagues. Get a few years of regular first team minutes and prove your worth before joining the EPL giants. The list of young prospects dying at big clubs are very very long.

Happened to come across a September highlight video for those who haven't seem him play much. He looks to be a natural lefty who was on the wing in this match, though he doesn't seem like an out-and-out wide burner type, or at least he wasn't one here. If the YouTube poster USMNT Videos is a BigSoccer poster, please raise your hand so I can acknowledge you (if you want me to).
So... 1301678566187438081 is not a valid tweet id ... what to make of this? T'Markt lists three '01s on Liverpool's first team: Jones, an England YNTer who came up through their academy and has EPL minutes; the Welshman Williams, who has played for his country's NT and Liverpool's first team, also from the academy; and Van den Berg, who came from Zwolle in the Netherlands and played for that club's first team but not his current club's. Nobody listed by T'Markt on that roster is younger than '01.

I feel like, if I were to somehow make it to one of the world's biggest teams as a teenager, I'd have a hard time convincing myself that I should leave before I turn 20. We've obviously seen that it's harder to make it than not make it, especially at a place like Liverpool -- and, frankly, who knows where he'll end up this coming season -- but I get it. Good luck to him! Separately, here's a September bio video I hadn't seen before, including him on camera.
someone pointed out in the replies to the tweet that the liverpool main account tweeting about him didnt even follow matteo lol
Yeah...but isn't Liverpool offering him another contract a positive sign though? Or does it not indicate anything about his chances of playing for the first team?
I mean, it's obviously not bad! My point was that -- hey, it's Liverpool. Other '01s at the club got first-team minutes in the EPL this season. I don't know how close to making a roster Ritaccio was, but either way we are talking about a huge club with huge resources and expectations. Obviously, if he breaks through there, awesome.
yeah we've seen this story enough in Yanks Abroad to know that a contract with a huge club doesn't mean much for youth players' chances of ever being a first team player for said club....which is kinda weird imo...hopefully this is indeed a positive sign in that direction though....!
I’d hope he’d re-sign with the possibility of getting a loan next season. He’d have to have a breakout performance next season to have any chance of making the bench. Let’s hope his career at Liverpool goes further than Lennon’s or Lleget’s at WHU.
