He is apparently on trial with the ALBION at the moment. I will keep you posted on how it goes. Albion & England forever. Thimble Keegan Littlehampton BHA
It was reported that Bruce Arena wanted him back here in MLS with the Galaxy. I'd assume that if by January he is clubless, He'll be back here in LA.
he'll be back in the MLS, but my question will be "for how much".... Arena is obviously going to drop the bucks on a quality GK, especially with LD on the move, they should be able to afford it.... LA will be under-going a series of changes what with Ruiz and LD off the bankroll..... Pickens would be a solid pickup for LA, however, Pickens is only as good as the backline in front of him... he's going to make some huge saves and be solid, but if the defense is still in shambles, then so will he...
just released from Brighton where he was on trial... http://www.goal.com/en-US/Articolo.aspx?ContenutoId=894905
A shame, it was also mentioned about having a bit of an attitude. that can follow someone for a while.
that's an important question. with his euro passport will he be offered as much money here as over there wherever he ends up finding a job?
Looks like he didn't pass the "good person" test at Brighton. Who knew such a test existed outside of BB's world? I think in most cases, you can substitute "coachable" for "good person". A manager has to have next to zero options to put up with players that don't get with the program.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/gossip_and_transfers/default.stm Bit of a step back after he turned down a move to Motherwell earlier in the season, but I guess playing time is playing time when it's been almost a year since you've last seen the pitch.
I thought free agents not signed with a team at the close of the transfer window could be signed at any time. At least that is the rule in England and a few other places I'm familiar with. Perhaps they are waiting until they can unload some current player(s).
But why? The guy demonstrated he was a capable keeper in MLS. You wouldn't say he was any better or worse than Troy Perkins, who's getting good reviews in Norway for Valarenga. Maybe his contract demands are way out of whack. Maybe it's been so long since he played a competitive match, that he's just really rusty. I don't know. Color me confused. I get to see a lot of garbage keepers in England. Why doesn't he just latch onto a league 1 team, take a pay cut, and prove his worth?
I like Matt a lot better than Troy. He's taller and incredibly athletic - amazing reflexes + fantastic vertical jump. Plus, he has a passport. Odd indeed. PS. After a rough beginning, Troy had a very good middle and end to his Tippeligaen season.
According to Goal.com sources, Pickens was "poor" and had an attitude that the team found more than off-putting. Again, who knows . . . . . . I genuinely hope the attitude is not the concern.
This article is incorrect also, notice they never got Matt's side of the story. Good journalism. He left that trial on his own, he didn't fail it as the story suggests.
it was, that was a game for the reserves. Pcckens was a QPR basically long enough to break Rowan Vine's leg in training and that's about it. Probably a victim of the manager merry go round there, he never really got a shot, though the R's had an opportunity to keep him and chose to pass, ans got Radek Cerny instead. he's a good enough keeper that he'll land somewhere I'm sure, unfortunately keepers can't be picky.
