I'm not a fan of the "I don't even know who that is" insult. Played out. What makes this dude extra annoying though is that he's actually talented. Puzzles me why he feels the need to dive and taunt consistently.

Personally looking forward to the day when USMNT fans outgrow thinking this douchebaggery is meaningful in a friendly between business partners.... this doesn't scale, doesn't get us any closer to where we need to be.
that kid is 5'5? Jeez. I'm not 1 to hark on short guys. Especially in soccer. But it was kinda ridiculously funny. Added a spark to a dull game. The Mexican fans who are in an uproar are really mad about things other than this pointless exchange in a rivalry game.
the game was straight trash until a) julian green was subbed on and b) that moment of the game. It turned a shockingly dull game into something with a few memorable moments.

The only thing that got on my nerves was how it was portrayed afterward. The entire exchange from the moment he mocks Lainez to the moment he warns the ref about Edson makes Miazga just look dumb. All the networks took the snippet and sold it to the crowd as a major rivalry moment when it wasn’t. The MX media wasn’t much better either, making it out to be a huge disrespect against a human’s livelihood and dignity. Our coach Tuca had the most respectable view on the matter. Basically said this will help him get used to insults and keep his cool during NT matches.
Gooch's stare down is epic. Miazga's was well played and timed well, but it can't come close to how Gooch's was deployed.
I thought Lainez's response after the game was classy, and it was a bit juvenile of Miazga, but in a rivalry game, I actually don't have a problem with it. I was excited to see some spirit, emotion and swagger back in this team after years of at times disinterested play.
