Reading plays Leeds at home, then travels to Stoke, and hosts Preston. I think they could get a point from Leeds, Stoke is tying pretty much everything these days, but Preston is the sort of team that does better away than at home. So the rest of the month is not going to be easy. Reading is on the upswing though, unlike Wigan, Millwall and Rotherham.
Starts v. Leeds, down 1-0 early. https://streamable.com/m5g84 Pretty comprehensive defensive breakdown. Nice assist though.
Well he was adequate at a level a couple of notches above the Championship, the least he can be for this subpar Reading is their best defender.

LOL no way. Championship as a whole has more quality, even if the top two Dutch teams are way better.
Sometime I would like to see a compilation of bad moments, if there were any. He looks great in good times. And I am a fan. But I would like to see more of what a coach would perceive as his down side. Every defender gets beat on occasion. I would like to see how he was beat and by whom and if it was 1v1 or in tandem with another defender.
Totally agree, especially for a defender, who can have 99 good plays in a match, but can ruin it all for the team with one bad play, which may not even involve a touch (e.g., totally losing his mark).
Except when CB has a bad positioning and doesn't touch the ball. Not implying that Miazga has bad positioning that often. He is very solid actually.
Main difference you need from CBs besides the obvious physical and positioning abilitiesi s the ability to not only win possession under pressure they can also the pass the ball directly after winning possession. Miazga is on the path. He is showing signs of being the most complete defender we've ever had.
So, Miazga's better than Ream, right? Certainly faster, better in the air (Ream missed several headers, challenged and alone,) and a better passer. We're basically a back 3 there, I see no reason why MM couldn't be one of those three if Ream is getting a chance...
Miazga is definitely better in the air. Ream definitely struggled in the header department on the left against Ecuador, which was disappointing. Is he a better passer than Ream? I am not sure. Is his positioning for playing on the left superior? Debatable as well. I think that trajectory wise Miazga should become a better overall player than Ream, but Ream was the player of the year on a promoted Championship team and one of the best defenders in the Championship for the past 2 or 3 years. We tend to want to ignore that because we have high expectations on our younger players, and Ream has plateaued at a level we want our younger players to surpass. That said, is he actually a better player right now? I am not sold on that one way or the other.
