Uninterested. Unenergetic. And decidedly unprofessional. Fatigue is no excuse. They only played about 70 minutes of the Tulsa match. If I was Coach there would be team-wide gassers as soon as the team gets off the plane.
I’m not holding my breath for Simon Elliot to do that. If you ask me, he’s part of the problem. This is a stop-gap coach for a stop-gap squad. We are on cheapo cruise control until anything MLS happens with this owner.
Here is my quote from the April 7th game: "What they are, right now, is a team that finds ways to win, fights hard even when down a man, and are much more fun to watch than last year’s team. IMHO, that makes them worth the price of the ticket, and of my cheers and tears." Almost a month later, and my optimism has waned. Their performance last night was the culmination of four weeks worth of stagnation. As a team, the lack of movement off the ball, lack of movement to a free ball, lack of defensive marking on restarts, lack of urgency when falling behind by two goals, and a multitude of ill-timed or weighted passes leads me to believe we are getting worse, not better.
I was making this point thus far - that results weeks out were masking the underlying problems- that this just isn’t a good team.
