Blake is the unquestioned starter heading into next year. Nando can finish - formation change? Pfeffer is a pus, I'd rather have Leo Fernandes Creavalle is very athletic, but is not very good at soccer I'm all for Wenger competing for a spot as an outside back
Blake up to 10 saves tonight and he nearly got the PK that beat him. Revs are now up to 14 corner kicks.
I do favor Blake, primarily because of the draft pick status and not wanting to see it wasted. I also see him with a much higher ceiling.
spent the game watching Blake and Wenger playing where they belong. Needed to burn it into my memory before the off season. When the Union once again prove their personnel acumen by dumping them for bags of peanuts...............
Blake bossed that game. Everyone else was anywhere from average to downright awful. Nando managed one moment of brilliance in an otherwise atrocious game.
Union had no business getting even a point from that game. 10 minutes of competent soccer and an absolutely sparkling performance from Blake. That was on the level of a few Hamid, Sean John, Rimando performances. Truly top class from the kid. The fact that he's played less than a handful of games is an indictment of the entire club.
Blake showed his ability to get points that the team did not deserve and has yet to give up a soft goal for which he is the primary one to blame - not exactly traits that could be said about most of the goalies through this team's existence. While Curtin likely sticks with McCarthy for the Final (i.e. more game experience with the starting backline, earned the start given his performances in the other USOC games like he did with MacMath last year, more professional starts, shutout in last game, etc.), Curtin has proven he can pull a surprise in his starting line-up for a Cup FInal when he benched Okugo, who had been a regular starter leading up to the game.
Even taking into account his small size, Ayuk does go down very easily but the Union's top flop is still this guy:
Well... when you're the only player who tries to be creative and take players 1 v 1, that will happen. Ayuk is easily a gem in the making. Skilled player, who needs to get his mind straight (still a young kid). So what if he dives. Gotta make something happen when you're the only one trying on a team of complacent players who either have given up on the team or have their spots no matter what.
I didn't get to see much of the game at all. How did Wenger do as a RB? Surely better than he was ever in the midfield? Not that that's saying much... Also Blake. Blake is the answer to the question the Union thought they had to ask themselves for some reason.
I can hear it now... Curtin defending his decision to start McCarthy Wednesday will revolve helmet head's ability to stop PKs after blake let one in last night
