Same result as last week, but I thought we looked better doing it......if that makes sense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Just settled in to watch the game, I'm about 30 minutes in. (I play in the Camellia Symphony Orchestra, which had a concert at the same time as the game.) 3-5-2 looks pretty good. Also, I'm reminded of the college game I played in back in 2001 (at Redlands) that was called after 75 minutes due to smoke from SoCal brush fires.
Are you still smoking the same pot from Redlands 2001? This is a soccer thread - you may want to visit www.randomshit.com for errrr random shit...
The haze is just that obvious on video. Surprised this game went on as scheduled, I'm saying the smoke looks as bad as a game I remember actually being called off because of smoke. And I'm glad I wasn't there. The rest is by way of explaining why I was watching the game after midnight instead of standing in the TBB section.
And now, having viewed the game in full: the ref really needed to do something about the endless dissent in the first half, before it really got out of hand in the second. Despite conceding the first goal, the starting formation looked good, and it's probably a good fit for a roster without a lot of true wide players. Rodriguez is showing some improvement though still error-prone. I'm still not sure what to make of Buckle's recent penchant for putting four or five strikers on the field at once late in games; we're not really getting a lot of combination play from them, they leave big defensive gaps when they're playing as midfielders, and I think throwing all the attacking players in at once ends up generating fewer quality chances than the starting lineup does. It's been getting results anyway, but a lot the goals seem fluky. But hey, we've got a home playoff game, and a really good chance at top seed with the final regular season opponent being Tulsa. I'll take that.
Cole looks like a guy at the twi light of his career who could have really helped... About 5 years ago... But if anything he's a big body up there and intimidates defenders/keepers. He doesn't look match fit at all so it's hard to judge, but so far so few minutes to judge too.
