Well, another goose egg. A few good chances, but the finishing wasn't there. Their 'keeper made two solid saves; each team cleared a shot off the line. The run of play slightly favored us in the first half (but I was about 15 minutes late). Toros controlled the first 30 minutes of the second half. Whereas, we finished the game strong. For a team that only flew in the day of the game, they held up well. Chaney got in about 15 minutes. I kind of like what I saw. Good size and speed; not much of a chance to handle the ball with his feet, but he did find open spaces. Christian picked up another yellow so he'll have an accumulation suspension sometime in the next few weeks. BTW, I listened a little to the radio broadcast on the way to the game. Within about 60 second span the guy referred to both a "defenseman" and an "infielder." He must be on loan from ESPN.
I was able to watch the match on TV - the turnout seem well - both teams create chances, but we should give props to RGV - they have given up only 5 goals all season - that club has a solid rear foundation
RGV was great defensively because they play with basically 6 defenders. They had so many guys sitting back it was like they parked the bus to begin with. Hmmm... sounds like a repeat of 2015... so sure, they aren't allowing many goals, but they also aren't scoring many that way either. Not how you play to win in this league.
