Hi, guys. Won't be around much here, because I am going to comfortably watch Italy-Brazil sitting on my armchair in front of the TV on the first channel of Italian national TV. :)

    Have fun, everyone!

Galli for Bergamaschi; Giacinti for Sabatino.

Andressinha for Formiga  (two yellows), Ludmila for Andressa Alves (and Debinha => LW).

Hopefully Italy and Australia go through from this group. But seeing that the cup is worse than the NHL for the number of teams advancing, I'm sure Brazil get through even with a loss.

05' 0-0 Bonansea cuts inside to box top left post, shoots right instep to left post low, Barbara dives and blocks it wide left and over.

As long as Brazil don't get combed, they'll be better off than Nigeria, and then would only have to hope that one of the other three groups gives 3rd place at 3pts/-2 or worse. So, yeah, chances of anyone from this group aside from Jamaica going home is pretty damn small.

That tear in Debinha's sock is clear evidence of a foul. Debinha then almost replicates Zola versus Watford.

Bartoli almost amputates Debinha. Four big chances Brazil followed. Brazil who usually collapse in the 2nd half try to decide this now

17' 0-0 Marta left ck, bounces at 4m 4-left. Debinha (not Cristiane) hop right backheel flick rises to right 90, Giuliani double-blocks over bar.
1141063314731962368 is not a valid tweet id

They fixed the caption to properly credit Debinha ;)

This game is actually completely nuts :coffee:

Really nice touch from Girelli on that goal.

    Clearly offsides.

And just as clearly, the delayed flag continues to suck.

Fully agree. I read an article that stated that cutting from 32 teams down to 16 is "too steep". What a loaf of bollocks. The whole point of a three game group stage is to allow a.team that had a rough game to be able to recover, but not necessarily two rough games to advance.

Giuliani with two big saves in a matter of moments for Italy. Brazil had six corners in the first 19' of the match.

I like Italy's aggressiveness: they get the ball on the wing and waste no time driving dangerous balls into the box.

38' 0-0 Tamires high cross to 14m right post, Cristiane heads point-blank into Linari's left elbow above her head, ball bounces away to arc tangent left. L.Santos just wins a race to volley, takes shoetip to her right toes, ball pops forward to 7m 1/4 left. Ludmila lunges for a header but misses, Giuliani comes out and slaps it away. Offside on Ludmila.

40' 0-0 Off that restart, Italy sprint up box right, pass to Guagni overlapping to 10m wide right. Cross to 6-top 2/5 left, Bonansea high left roundhouse volley to center, Barbara blocks with bod, out to spot. Giacinti fights 1-v-2 to settle and spin, Brasil finally dig it out of her feet and clear.

    Marta is wearing lipstick.

I think it's the perfect metaphor for Brazil. This is an old team, trying desperately to remain relevant. Italy is better on the ball this day. They are better tactically this first half. They look tired and they are a step slow. Brazil may nick a goal in the.second I'm half, but it I'm pretty sure it will be against the run of play.

I want the coach to sub out Elisa Bartoli at HT: she's too much nervous and she's likely to get the second Yellow, leaving us in trouble.

Of course the YC when she ripped Debinha's sock was entirely deserved.

    HT 0-0. Italy 8(2)-(2)7 shots(sog), 3-6 corners, 1-2 offsides, 5-8 fouls, 14-3 tackles, 21-9 clearances, 49% possession, 76% (143/188) - (150/205) 73% passing. End-to-end and evenly matched

Yes, but I like it. :D

Both teams could have scored in multiple occasions, and Debinha, as I had said in a previous thread, is Brazilian's best player by far (that back-heel goal would have been the goal of the tournament, had it gone in).

She's a good GK (I have her as my second choice in my Fantasy football team), even for the general standard of this WWC.

Only problem: she's too much careless when she plays with her feet (in the match vs Jamaica this costed Gama a kick in the face :x3:)
