Vying with Barkley.

 

Anyone else think Pulisic would have made the plays the Mount has missed? I’m really surprised he’s not on the field. Does Lampard wait til 60’ or 75’ to bring him on, or do we see him at the half?

 

Pulisic for Barkley is a natural sub.

This is a low quality game, but we really should be even. United have been pretty bad.

 

100% Pulisic is a much more fine tuned machine than Mount. Hopefully it doesn’t take long to see him come on.

I will say Mount hasn’t been bad by any means. We should be a goal up if not for the post and abysmal play from Kurt

 

I’d take a traffic cone over Ross Barkley.

 

At the moment I would rather bring him on for Pedro than Mount.

Overall it is going better than I expected.

 

Mount has been solid, but has been poor in final positions. Nerves?
Defense has been mostly solid, though Zouma - sigh. Jorginho didn’t cover himself in glory on that counter - he tried to commit a tactical foul and just couldn’t. Otherwise he’s been active.
Tammy continues to almost get there. Almost.
Kovacic has been very useful, if not great.
Barkley has been terrible.
Overall we’ve been ok, though it’s been a sloppy game. If United had better players or a better manager, our somewhat cavalier approach might have really been punished. The tactical system Ole is employing appears to be s shrug emoji.

 

Pedro needs to do more, as our experienced attacking player.

Heh. I’m not even really a USMNT fan! But Barkley has been atrocious.

 

This exactly. I don’t think Pulisic is as vulnerable to nerviness. Dortmund and the USMNT have given him the right kind of experience.
