The amount of league games we and a few other teams are playing compared to other teams is ridiculous. By the end of Saturday we will have played 4 more games than FCD. The Red bulls already have 11 games played while others with 8. I'm trying to figure out why when almost every team has their own SSS that the disparity of games played is over 1 game, like just about every other league in the World. That said it's good to have a deep enough roster to muster out points, but it sucks that many teams get to have an even amount of rest all season while some start off the year burnt out. That said Columbus is in the same boat as us so Wednesday should be pretty even. We will get Seba and Vasquez back in the lineup and hopefully a better result than last time.
38 minutes in....they are having the best of the match and they scored on their penalty and ours was saved.
TFC now on their 3rd formation of the evening....started in a 3-5-2....around the 40 minute mark changed to a 4-4-2 diamond when Ricketts came on for Mavinga....now playing the second half in a 4-3-3.
brilliant chip from Edwards to the onrunning Ricketts who does well to get up in the air and score the equalizer. 10,318 in the house at Mapfre Stadium
glad to see Ricketts finally scored this season. Was getting worried about his 0 goals. Now he has 2 goals this season.
2-1 is your final....nicking points when you play very poorly is good. now, take advantage of Minnesota being here on the weekend and get Bradley rested....he is now the only player to have played every minute of every match this season....and this has been a lot of matches in a short spell.
;-) This was undoubtedly our worst game all year....but we still win...that's the difference between TFC 2017 v. TFC of just a few years ago
There will be games where Chapman will prove to be very valuable but this was not his or Osorio's game/night. I was dying for Edwards and Delgado to come on. At least one did and provided for Ricketts who is a great goal scorer when he has service but not much of a play maker if he has more than a touch. Credit to Vanney for the adjustments because we should have lost this game by a few which would have been understandable given the Crew are good, we are away and have been playing 2 games a week for a while. But now we have to refocus on Minn U who we might take for granted given we just beat 2 good teams on the road while we were not at our best.
Some nice saves by Bono to keep us in there. And good adjustments by Vanney. Let's hope they don't let off against Minnesota. A question I meant to ask: Not a complaint, by why wasn't the penalty call against Altidore also a red card? I thought that was automatic when the last man back takes down the attacking player to prevent a goal.
Apparently the new guideline that refs are given is if they judge the keeper to have made a legitimate attempt at the ball it is a yellow not a red. That said, I was surprised there was no card given to Eriq Z at all on their penalty.
Still top of the table, tied for second in PPG (2) with Orlando. FC Dallas is first in PPG with 2.25. Note that all three of these clubs feature Canadian players.
It would have been a triple whammy of a penalty kick, down to 10 men and suspended for the next game. The rule was changed in 2015 to prevent that.
