Frei is killing TFC again. TFC is getting the better of the chances (far better than last year), but Frei is being the difference.
Well I have to admit that at the beginning of the Bez/Vanney area I thought they were a couple of idiots who were taking this club further into the abyss. Thank you gentlemen for the plate crow that I have been served. It's very delicious.
AND THAT'S IT! 2-0 TFC IS YOUR FINAL! VOYAGEURS CUP CHAMPIONS. SUPPORTERS SHIELD WINNERS. MLS CUP CHAMPIONS. THE TREBLE IS COMPLETE!
Congratulations on a magnificent season from a very envious DC United fan who remembers what it's like to win the big ones. Special nod to Jozy Altidore.
As y'all say, full marks. That was a great game and a great season. It's you fans whom I rejoice with the most, even in my disappointment. To the manager and team, job well done.
Cool season when you win every cup you enter. For me I wiil always have the 1967 Celtic team and the 2017 TOronto FC!
TFC owned this game. Bradley owned Lodeiro and Dempsey. The only thing that kept this game close was Frei. Massive props to TFC and the supporters
Congratulations, Toronto. It's been a long road since the days of Dicchio, but your owners never lost their ambition, and never stopped trying to bring in someone who could build a champion. It was a dominating performance, and enjoy the hour.
Congratulations on a historic season! I had the opportunity to visit Toronto and see a game this summer. It was a fun trip all around. I was impressed by how welcoming your city is, how beautifully your team plays, and how passionate the fans are. BMO Field might not be spectacular in terms of architecture but your fans make it a special place. Really happy that your support and the team's hard work are rewarded in a big way. As a long term US supporter and someone who's followed MLS since day one (I was there on the stands at Ohio Stadium opening week of 1996!), I must say that I am appalled by how Altidore and Bradley have been treated by US fans over the years. It's heartening to see how Toronto has embraced Altidore and Bradley as much as they have embraced the city. I am glad that they've found success with you.
There were many dire games in this club's history where I wondered if it was ever going to be worth it. Well, today it was worth it. For too long we had players, coaches and front office staff who weren't good enough and probably shouldn't have been signed in the first place. To have gone from being laughing stock not too long ago to being the best team in MLS is something that I'm still trying to come to terms with. A big thanks goes out to Tim Leiweke who treated TFC like an equal to the Leafs and Raptors. Without him, I doubt that the right people would've been in place to make this club a winner, whether it be hiring Bez or signing Bradley. In the lean years, it was hard to care enough to care but I could stop caring. After all this time. Always.
Wow, just wow. This board has suffered the past few years due to the lack of product on the field. There are a lot of names and avatars recognizable from 2007....lots of fans that wanted this for so long. Lots of frustration...but I am proud to have been there from day 1. From the moment I put my name on the list for season tickets, to picking them, to eventually giving them up. But I never stopped supporting. Posts dropped off...but we never stopped supporting. This team SUCKED and there it was 5 years ago...ROCK ********ING BOTTOM. Then everything changed. No more. Tim L (must have a small smile somewhere today) decided that MLSE needed a culture of winning and used this platform (and Leafs and Raptors) to instill it. It started with Bradley. The general, the best overall player on the field this year and leader by example. Jozy the beast (MLS Lekaku) and Seba (the best player in league history?). To come up short last year and tears of sorrow to adding what was the final pieces, Vazquez and Mavinga...total class. And a team possessed and committed to winning it...Beit, Morrow, MOOR!, Osario, Haggland, ...to everyone else on that bench that supported and contributed. Tears of happiness for me for sure. For every streamer throwing, song chanting, lightening clapping, pre game marching, seat cushion throwing fan out there this team did it. Of course they did it for themselves, but I feel everyone of them wanted it so bad for the fans and support. Congratulations to the team for the well deserved victory and season and thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I wonder if there was anyone who was around when Toronto won the NASL Soccer Bowl in 1976 when the Metros-Croatia beat Minnesota for the title. I'm sure there's no comparison from what happened then (in Seattle - ain't that a coincidence!) to what happened on Saturday. I'm also sure there may have been some folks who had the previous losses in the league final (last year and the two Blizzard Soccer Bowl appearances in 1983 and 1984) on their minds. All of that can finally be put to rest.
Seattle, other than Frei, looked like a team that hadn't faced much competition leading up to that game.
